sec. pompeo: it is always important to remember the history. it seems like escalation, but this has been 40 years of melania behavior. britishit was seizing a tanker in international waters or shooting down an american uav in international airspace or assassination campaigns in europe, iran has a long history of malign behavior. our mission when we came in was to create as much stability as we could. we watched iran behave engaging in this behavior. we had a terrible deal the previous administration had entered into that created enormous wealth for the leadership inside of the atomic republic of iran and they were using that wealth in a line ways, so we broke out of the deal, put pressure on the regime and we are or sing them to make tough decisions about how they will behave. we want change in behavior from the leadership so the iranian people can get what they deserve. >> how do you get that change in behavior when foreign ministers in new york are saying that the sanctions are going to

this is not alive problem with the sec. if you look at for example the amount of money it costs to trade stocks today, the expenses that retail investors bear, all of those have been going in the right direction the last 20 years, so that is a wonderful thing. that works very well with large cap and highly liquid stocks. but when you have smaller cap stocks that aren't as liquid, that market has become much more challenging to be in. if you are is sub billion-dollar market capitalization company today in the public markets, you probably don't have research analysts covering your company, a sales or trading desk at banks talking to the investor community about buying your stock. as a result, their stock doesn't

sec. ross: i'm not aware the gate has opened to any significant degree. david: we hear secretary mnuchin and ambassador lighthizer may be going to china. what is the next step in negotiations sec. ross:? the next step -- sec. ross: the next step would be for our team to go to china. the regiment we have always had is one meeting in washington, the next meeting in china. the last meeting was in washington. logically, the next meeting should be in china. david: you've been there since the beginning of the administration. you have said you are staying. you expect you will get a resolution on that panoply of issues before you depart? all, i'm notrst of contemplating any departure so there is no conjunction between that kind of silly rumor and the trade talks. it does give a sense of how long you think it might take? sec. ross: it is impossible to judge how long it will take when the president's objective is to get a proper deal or go ahead with the tariffs. whether itmportant be done a week fr

you may remember a filing with the sec that most exchanges around the globe are not regulated. other than the custody issue for money laundering. it is rare they are regulated. >> anything anonymous to prevent things like launch trades quick. >> it's not about the technology. around the globe the world is exchanging are not regulated by the sec. >> or similar security exchanges. >> but i have to point out we are regulated where they operate and by the customers that they serve. this is the case now being tried in new york looking at a number of exchanges the second distinction since 2016 all of these exchanges here in the united states are under the purview of us regulators including the cftc have voluntarily joined to create a market oversight committee that put the practices and accusations leveled around the trading there is an effort to self regulate an absence of clear guidance but i will say this activity is not happening here in the united states because the exchanges here are regulated as any other exchange. >> i agree it's not regulated for market for manipulation but
