this map shows the current outages, most in the north bay. let's check in with meteorologist kari hall, tracking all the winds for us. >> we've seen some of the top wind gusts in the higher elevations in the north bay, reaching over 50 miles per hour with the highest in mt. st. helena reaching 57 miles per hour. mt. tam is the about 28. mt. diablo wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour. but then in some of the valleys we've seen the wind gusts a lot lower and even at the altamont pass we've only seen wind gusts up to about 16. we have red flag warning and high fire danger continuing until 4:00 today as winds look breezy higher up. we were' not going to see any more gusty winds in the lower elevations, and then going into the east bay, the santa cruz mountains, we also have a red flag warning that continues today, until 4:00. i'll take to you an hour-by-hour forecast looking at the fire danger area and that's coming up in about a couple of minutes. mike, you have a couple of fires reported. >> a big concern any time any fire is reported. the chp r

the fires in the north bay. but this one is the southland region, a fire blazing close to the 405 has growth dramatically this morning in the past hour. it is gone from 100 acres consumed to 405 acres. it is burning on a hillside along the 405 freeway in the sepulveda pass area, close to the getty center museum. mt. saint mary's college has been evacuated as well as numerous homes. we'll continue to keep our eye on this fire blazing in southern california. 5:24 now. >> and back here closer to home. a historic building in sonoma kub -- county in ruins in the wildfire. the soda rock winery has been around since 1869 and some of the most striking video we saw yesterday morning. 150 years of history lost in the morning. >> it was so sad to see it go down so quickly. live on air. bob redell was there as it burned. and you have new information from us this morning, bob? >> reporter: well, laura and marcus, that fire at soda rock winery started around 3:00 a.m. yesterday and by 6:00 a.m. we were there and the entire or

so right now we're in the north bay. there's highway one oh one over to the right hand side an hour of moving them out to the west of one oh one you see portions of highway 12, one 16 all all of that highlighted in in purple. those folks you will be impacted by the next round of power shut off so keep that in mind. 600,000 customers pg customers without power and that leaves a lot of families in the dark. one of the issues is that only will they shut off power our but it's going to take some time to get the power back on so they shut it off not like they can just flip a switch and turn everything right back on instantly. they have to check for downed trees. they have to survey the entire bay area look for downed power. lines and then they'll slowly turn that power back on that could take up to a week is a big concern right now are over highway 12 still in the north bay just moving the map around so take a look at it see if you can find your particular neighborhood on the map. this is affecting one 0.5 million people. but

bay mountains and even east bay hills that is why the north bay you saw that red flag warning go into effect at noon today followed by a second red 5 morning that one went into effect for the east bay at 3 o'clock this afternoon. very warm dry. gusty conditions already seeing those wind speeds. increase for those of you along the north bay and already tracking very bone dry weather for most of the north bay in the teens right now with critically dry conditions exthe overnight hours relative humidity will be even lower sometimes dropping as low as the single digits during the overnight hours and early thursday morning with little relief even by thursday afternoon, and it's all feel because of these very warm dry offshore winds starting to notice those winds increasing in the north bay with sustained winds later tonight, 20 to 30 miles per hour and a lot the highest peaks could see wind gusts upwards of 60 miles per hour and even along the coast of the san francisco bay area could also see sustained wind speed that 20 to 30 miles per hour as well. and tomorrow i am tracking another roun

bay but elsewhere around the bay area but the north bay first by 9 o'clock here you can already see sustained winds of 18 miles per hour sonoma also the calistoga but you see the red here. this is the computer models picking up on some stronger winds and even a little bit of purple 3040 mile an hour gusts, real possibility as we take you through the night tonight, midnight there you go 30 miles per hour out of the northeast strong dry winds and this is going to be in the urban areas, not just over the mountain tops this is all the way down where people live as we take into the night tonight that intensifies to 3 o'clock in the spreads elsewhere further south into parts of east bay hills and those winds will continue to how right through the morning hours and then as we get toward the latter part of the morning things begin to subside across parts of the bay area but still stay strong in the north bay so fire danger still want to be elevated right through the middle of the day in the early afternoon, then by late in the day. things begin to calm down quite a bit between now and then

mike, you're starting out with a look at the north bay. >> that's right, looking at the north bay because this is the area where vianey showed on the outage map all these scattered outages that were planned, folks were warned but you might find local signals as an issue. looking at a smooth drive for most of this portion but over here, highway 29, 221, where pete got there this morning and a signal out. early at about 1:00 in the morning we had a report of wires down in the area, and they are trying to repair that, but it is also in the outage area, i don't know if the two are linked or if the wires came down as a result perhaps of some overnight gusty winds. we'll look at highway 12, some lights reported around that stretch as well, be careful, if you come to a signal that's out, treat it like a four-way stop. the caldecott tunnel is open, they have generators, same thing for the lantos tunnel off of highway 1 moving well. any changes we'll alert you but pg&e has plans to keep those open. so does caltrans and most of the bay looking at a lighter commute. >>> a turkish intelligence team a

potentially for the north bay. it shouldn't be as bad as the east bay. another one of those window makers that focuses on the north bay more than the rest of the bay area. that is why i'm going to show you the forecast in detail. over the next 36 hours. tomorrow morning at 11 am. it is already started in the mountains. notice how in the communities it is breezy but not nearly as bad as this last event was in town. however when we reached the peak for these winds right after midnight in those early morning hours on wednesday. you've got to look up here in the mountains to find the real trouble spot is. when we bring in relief and look up hill at mount st. helena. 60 mile-per-hour does. for comparison this last one sunday morning we had gust to 90. this one is not as bad. it is just as bad as the one from last thursday. those wins were able to spark the kincaid fire. we are not out of the woods on this. more to discuss. i will have more on the forecast coming up in just a few minutes. we will take a look at the east bay in the south bay. >>> pg&e said its

in north bay have been out since saturday. we are going to see what the high winds prima and will hopefully have an all clear tomorrow. >>> here is the bottom line. pg&e is in just been given the all clear at 8 am tomorrow. in the morning, i hope to give the all clear, but it might come earlier than that. the problem is, that does not mean your power is going to come back on. pg&e as you see in the video, has to get out and inspect every single inch of the power lines. that has to happen before they can get the power back on to your neighborhood. as we were saying, those winds are expected to die down throughout the night. hopefully, everybody in the bay area will get their power back on by midday tomorrow night. >>> here is a look at longford street. there is heavy traffic going both directions. mostly going out to the mouth of the golden gate bridge. traffic is backed up at this time. did wave of people -- they are fleeing power outages. they are coming into the city because the power is on. they want groceries, run errands,

it's mostly in the north bay, right? >> indeed. we've been showing you this pg&e map but this is an interactive tool. it really shows you the cities that are being affected by this outage, for example we're seeing santa rosa, calistoga in through petaluma, through mill valley, napa, you can actually select a city. i zoomed in to napa and it gives you a start time of when that power outage started and also gives you the number of customers affected and as of right now, the estimated restoration most of them show not available. this is going to take some time but another thing to keep in mind, there are thousands of people being affected so although we are guiding you to the pg&e website, we've certainly seen it crash, as you could imagine, so many people on it. so safety is going to be the number one priority, but patience is going to be your true test for today, because we will be getting those updates. the map will try its best to update every 15 minutes but so far, you can follow us online as well. back to you. >> in fact, our "t

we do know this in the north bay. sonoma county is one county where the planned outages started at midnight. amy hollyfield is live good morning. >> good morning. we are in sonoma, no lights at way, there are some lights. so maybe this store is open. but when you get closer to the door, you do see the sign that r notice. peak inside, th peek inside they do have some lights. this won't be catastrophic for this store. one example of what many businesses are facing with this shutoff. we do see employees here working, so that is a bonus for them. they were allowed to come in and at least clock those hours that they were expecting and hoping for. some people have locked the doors. they are not en working. and the word is to treat those as a four-way stop and to be cautious as you get there. one employee out here working on the sidewalk did make the comment that there is no wind here at all. it is not windy. so the question is on the mind of some people on whether it was necessary to turn the power off at this hour when peo

fire in the north bay did not grow so much last night the winds thankfully. we're near strong as they could have been with the weather pattern the way it was so that's the good news, we'll talk more about the power outage situation in just a second but as for the fire itself the kincade fire. >>it did grow, but as daryn mentioned it didn't explode and the size so it is 76,000 plus acres now which is maybe a few 100 acres more than it was yesterday containment is the same now that the big part because there were. >>you know winds that were pretty significant last night. but firefighters were able to hold the line at 15% containment. still more structures are continuing to burn a 189 now destroyed and 86 of those our homes that were burned to the ground. there are still many people out of their homes because of the evacuation orders affecting about 90 1000 homes that remain in danger this morning, you're not allowed back in those areas and thousands of fire continue their work to try to get a handle on this fire they're still looking at containment may be next

the east bay hills and valleys for the interior and even portions of the peninsula, the north bay though as we're looking at the potential of some of our strongest wind gusts later today, this is where wind gusts could top out around 60 miles per hour and as temperatures rise humidity lowers this afternoon. that's when you get that severe fire danger now as of this morning winds have been pretty calm here is your east bay wind speeds at this very moment, calm conditions in walnut creek oakland's down to hayward in livermore blackhawks ing 8 mile per hour sustained winds currently the north bay a bit breezy at times like right now 60 miles per hour say alina around 13 miles per hour at nothing like the winds we're going to see later today in fact you can see looking at your fire weather map here how that yellow orange and red just only expands into the afternoon. the areas you see shaded here are going to be our feet peak, fire danger risk areas. later on this is at 02:00pm today. you see how it expands through sonoma napa and on over into solano counties these areas very dry going to be

the hills of the east bay, and in the north bay. and that's where we have our dangerous winds still. our wind advisory and red flag warning through 11:00. northeast winds, 25 to 45 miles per hour, gusting to 55-mile-per-hour. you could have tree limbs down here at the surface. look at atlas peak, 40-mile-per-hour wind gusts. mount tam, about 2,000 feet, 21-mile-per-hour. mount diablo, 32 miles per hour out of the north. this is what we're concerned about. the dry upper elevation winds. as we go through the afternoon, the atmosphere is still dry until we switch around to an onshore component midday today into the evening. we get a break. relative humidity, 17% in oakland. looking at cold morning temperatures. east bay in the 50s. look at the north bay, that blue area in the mid 30s. that's because we have very little moisture in the air. it's dry. and it loses all the heat. so we're talking 25 degrees colder up by the fires here. some readings below freezing. that trend will continue into your tuesday morning despite the offshore win

we're also seeing temperatures plummeting in the north bay. only a few degrees above freezing in santa rosa and right now in napa it is 41 degrees. we have some upper 30s in san martin and that is what we see when the winds start to calm down under such dry conditions. we do see those temperatures that could go down quite a bit. and then look at how much cooler it is now compared to yesterday at this time. 24 degrees cooler in santa rosa. so it is a chilly start to the day. and we will have some slightly cooler temperatures for the afternoon with highs most of our inland areas reaching into the upper 60s and lower 70s. let's talk about the wind. because that is going to be the big story here going into the next couple of days. our winds coming in from the north and start to change in coming in from the northwest when will bring in the wildfire smoke going into the afternoon to evening hours. mostly calm wind in the forecast tonight but then will be another front coming in by tomorrow that will cause the winds to start to gust going into tomorr

not just for the north bay, but also for the east bay as well very critical fire weather pattern and that's why we have that red flag warning in effect, not just for the north bay, but also the interior valleys of the east bay and the local hills there i am tracking that red flag warning in effect from now through 4 o'clock tomorrow. afternoon and we will notice some relief by thursday night once that red flag warning has expired but from now until then this is a typical pattern that we need to watch out for the peak of our high fire season out there right now overnight lows in the north bay expected to dip into the low to mid and even upper 50's so still relatively warm air mass even by october standards and wake-up planner forecast is going to show for the bay area very hot dangerous heat head and our way in fact we could be 15 to 20 degrees above average, widespread 90's expected with possible record breaking heat not just along the coast. but along the bay and our interior valleys for downtown san francisco. we should be averaging a daytime high of 69 degrees this time of year. i
