right now we have santa rosa mayor on the phone. i'm sure dealing with this situation, i'm told that from downtown santa rosa you can actually see the glow from the fire happening right now. talk to us about what's going on there now in santa rosa. what are you doing? >> in santa rosa we have about 17,000 plus customers without power. it started going off and was completed by about 5:00. we've been in that same kind of pat earp witern without power a almost a repeat what have we experienced about two weeks ago. >> it's so concerning because we certainly do not want it to be a repeat of what we saw two years ago, of course, with the tubbs fire and how horrible that was for residents in your community. i understand from downtown santa rosa this morning you can actually see the geyser vilifier that's burning. >> absolutely. it is reminiscent. >> we know what happened in '17 and hope it will be under control much sooner than telephones two years ago. >> a little bit -- am i right in saying santa rosa city schools are closed today? >> no

then rosa santa rosa and san jose are very similar. tomorrow they are the same number. look at the difference from morning lows. you have to ask what is going on. part of the reason why santa rosa is getting so much colder. they are further north. they are also feeling more of the dry air influence. take a look at the relative humidity map. if you look at the south there is more humidity. a little less influence from the north wind coming down. more humidity down there. look at santa rosa. pulling in more dry air. dry air cannot hold the temperatures as high. it has less insulation. the temperatures bottom out. the north bay is feeling this more. look at the daytime highs tomorrow. 74 santa rosa. 74 san jose. 74 fairfield. not a lot of difference here. those numbers pretty much average. we will start to climb a bit. not a lot. just enough so that by the time we get to tuesday and wednesday of next week. daytime highs in the low 80s. halloween looks great. will still be chilly in the north bay. then it will get better. there is no rain in that whole seven-day forecast.>>

>> we are just north of santa rosa, or the northern part of santa rosa. i can confirm the 101 is open but many exits are closed because they are in the evacuated zone and the hot zone. we are in shiloshiloh, a number homes have burned here in the last 24, 36 hours. some glowing right there. this is heartbreaking. this was a multimillion dollar beautiful home in this neighborhood. now it is just left to burning rubble. i can tell you this, the heat coming off of this is intense. this is still fresh. the luckily the winds have come down since yesterday. they shifted to southern california. the damage is done with doubling this fire in size and losing containment. it was a fight that was difficult at best yesterday for firefighters. hopefully they can start to get a handle on this. what an incredible event this was. two firefighters injured but so lucky there are no confirmed fatalities as far as all the residents that were lucky enough to get out. >> i understand you got to the wear over the weekend. can you describe just from your experience the changes in

ktvu's debora villalon is in santa rosa with how people there are getting ready. but first, let's go to meteorologist with more on the conditions we are facing. >> it'll get a little difficult starting on wednesday going into the overnight on wednesday night. and that is why the national weather service has us under a fire weather watch beginning early in the morning on wednesday. the reason for that? we're expecting gusty winds to gust upwards of 45 miles an hour. a northerly flow. dry conditions, low relative humidity level and a drop into the teens as we head into that overnight. and again as frank mentioned a lot of vegetation out there that will make it difficult for the dry vegetation. temperatures are dropping down into the upper 70s in the inland comhelp a bit. and that is what we have coming our way. this is where the wind is tonight. but as you can see as we look at that forecast here, the wind is going to ramp up to start this on tuesday as you started to come in on wednesday and then it really gets going for the part of the day on wednesday. as they wo

now the police department shut down put the campus on lock down along with santa rosa high. and santa rosa junior college as well for several hours as they search for the suspect possible additional suspects and the weapon involved in this crime. now we are told ah that the suspect was found actually in a classroom and taken into custody. the identity of the suspect has not been released because he is a juvenile. the police department also detained another studenb briefly that student was released and they are now focusing on trying to track down the gun in this case, there's a santa rosa police department describing what happened in the moments after the shooting and how the suspect was taken into custody. officers learned that the shooter had. >>handed the gun to another individual and that individual left a school campus with that firearm the shooter actually return to a classroom. they're on the ridgeway high school campus and was identified by officers who worked in close coordination with the school officials and the school resource officer in the scene and safely took
