a couple of areas, kari. this is not the traffic alert that's been issued by chp but this is a jam and it's spectacular to look at, not great to be in. north 101 a short area from just before university just past willow, a tough drive. the crash in lanes northbound 101. we actually have one lane blocked but that's the slowdown. central, el camino and 280 are the alternates. the westbound 84 alert on the dumbarton bridge a crash blocks two of your three lanes. we just need crews to get there but they have to circle back from the newark and fremont side, causing a bill detail. the rest of the bay shows a smooth drive. the green highlighting wet, slick roadways but here behind that 680 shield i'll talk more about this coming up. there's flooding so bad there was a spinout and an alert from chp for 680 as well. more on this topic, we'll send it back to you guys. >> staying on the big story this morning, which is the weather and how it will impact you as you get out the door this morning. >> kris sanchez is live i

kari, there is the san mateo bridge camera. looks like drops are falling right now. >> it is raining there right now and we're starting to see some snow on mt. hamilton right now, as we track it all with our storm ranger mobile doppler radar. notice a couple of lightning strikes that i've seen off the coast that, will be pushing off towards the east into parts of marin county, over the next 30 to 40 minutes, so watch out for that possibility to see thunderstorms there. a closer look at sunol over toward livermore, 580, and also 680, really going to get a very heavy downpour within the next few minutes and as far as san jose we've seen the rain rolling through downtown, now moving toward alum rock as well as the berryessa area. watch out for rain there as well, that will last another few minutes before it lightens up. we'll see waves of rain today and at times it will be heavy, possibly even some thunder and lightning and small hail and going into the day, there will be some breaks especially for much of the north bay, some of t

meteorologist kari hall has been tracking those numbers for us and kari bring out the coats. >> once again. we've had a couple of these really cold mornings throughout the weekend. it continues again today as you head out in san jose, and as we look at our temperature trend for willow glen we'll be at 43 degrees for the next couple of hours, before we start to see temperatures warming up. after this cold start, we are going to have a nice day with highs reaching into the mid-70s inland. san jose, antioch reaching 75 degrees and 76 in clearlake, napa, as well as concord. we'll talk about what's ahead for the weekend, still looks pretty nice. more in a few minutes. mike, you're looking for a problem in oakland. >> not looking for trouble but a problem reported 880 south toward 66 reports of a crash, car hit in the guardrail and folks trying to push it out of the roadway. haven't seen that happen. chp says they're on scene. we scanned the area with our cam camera, no problems. another traffic break near seventh also cleared from the roadway approaching broadway. the nimitz appears to be

kari, how are we looking? >> looks pretty good again. a live look in dublin and cool temperatures, all clear skies, and we'll see a lot more sunshine, as we goou the day. as we check out our temperature trend for dublin, we'll be down to about 45 degrees to start, and then already up to 70 degrees at noon today. so it does heat up fairly quickly, as we head into the upper 70s today, even a few low 80s in the north bay. i'll have a closer look at this forecast and looking ahead to the rest of the week. mike, thingskari. i saw a big backup in the fastrak lanes for about five minutes. there was a disabled vehicle in lane 11, right about there, so i think that's why there's some slowing still going on but it should be cleared any second. the rest of the fastrak lanes cleared. looks like someone was stuck right there, deciding which lane to take. over in san francisco, there's another issue, getting away from the city, south 101, sorry, north 101, disabled vehicle there, that will cause some distraction until they clear it. should be in the s

kari hall has been tracking that forecast for us. >> it doesn't get any better than this in terms of travel conditions for a big weekend leading up to the holiday. and i think this weekend is when you want to get to where you are going and just stay there throughout the week. we see cars across the golden gate bridge and live in san jose with a mostly sunny sky. in evergreen temperatures in the mid-60s which is a few degrees above normal for this time of the year so we're enjoying slightly warmer than normal weather and some sunny skies as we look at our temperatures around the bay area. expected to reach 68 degrees in concord. 67 in napa. santa rosa reaching 65 degrees and san francisco up to 60 degrees today. but a couple of more days of dry weather before this system moves in early next week sliding down the coast into the bay area and as it does so will bring in rain. so our rain chances go up next week starting on tuesday. rain totals from a 10th of an inch to over an inch near the coast. but this will bring in sierra snow and the main issue is for us to track how far inland doe

let's get straight to the forecast right now kari. a nice day ahead? >> it will be another nice day. warm temperatures, too, but we are starting out with some fog and low visibility for drivers moving across the golden gate bridge. we'll see that clearing out and our temperatures will start out cool. by noon, we're at 70 degrees in danville, while san mateo is at 63 degrees. santa rosa will be at 68. heading into the low 70s today. now, we will see slightly cooler air today, and much cooler tomorrow. i'll talk more about the changes ahead in the forecast, coming up in about seven minutes, and mike, it's an easy start to the commute. >> it is. aside from the hour, i know, of sleep. kari showed you the fog socked in at the bay bridge -- at the golden gate bridge across the bay but peninsula 101 looks clear and easy. same as the drive. green sensors all up 101, 280. south bay no problem from the south county into silicon valley. tri-valley at speed except for the altamont pass. we know we'll see that slowing for west 580. a little blip shows up here highw

mike, you're still tracking that traffic alert. >>> that's right, kari. we are from the tri-valley westbound 580. kari showed you closer to the b.a.r.t. station, b.a.r.t. is a great way through the tri-valley. west 580 crawls through dublin from the approach all the way to 680 where there are only two lanes open. in the commute direction for this portion of the tri-valley, highway 84 does see more slowing, a little more traffic flowing there. now with the changes in surface street traffic, join our team. we're driving 880 southbound. looks like it should be out of lanes. at i am concerned about this crash approaching the caldecott tunnel. as you travel through the area that will slow you once you get past the caldecott, you're fine to the bay bridge where the metering lights are on, of course. zooming out to show you the rest of the bay. the bridge toll plaza but there is a new crash i'll check that out. >> i want to you stick around and help me out with the next story. you know this all too well, diapers are not cheap especially for you. >> i went throug

. >> kari, today? >> the weather looks really good today. it is veteran's day, a lot of outdoor celebrations and festivities going on. we'll take a live look outside in san francisco, no fog as we start out and we're going to see mostly clear conditions across the bay area. as we look at our temperatures, it's really cool, right now down to 40 degrees in napa. we're going to drop a few more degrees as we head throughout the morning and warm up quite a bit today, very warm temperatures for this time of year. we still do have those mid-70s and low 80s inland. so we'll have more on what's ahead as we go into the rest of the week and mike, you're focused on the bay bridge. >> i am for a couple of reasons, kari. you show a great view of the golden gate bridge we're looking at the green speed sensors for the view around the bay but we will call out an issue getting out of san francisco along the lower deck a disabled vehicle was reported just off of the san francisco side, helped it off the bridge at treasure island. we just got clearance a couple

meteorologist kari hall is tracking that for us. and kari, i like what we have going on now. >> it has been so dry. and we still continue to track what is going on with the kincade fire. you could see all of the landscape that has been burned. and we could still see the remnants of the fire retardant used from st. helena. and out today we're still seeing a layer of smoke. this is looking over cupertino and into south bay. we're seeing some smokey conditions at times. and a little bit of that smoke will create unhealth air quality for a few spots. temperatu temperature-wise it does feel nice. temperatures in the mid to upper 40s. it is starting to feel comfortable compared to the chilly start this morning. high temperatures today reaching into the upper 70s and low 80s. up to 80 degrees in morgan hill. and we'll see a high of 80 in santa rosa. san francisco up to about 70 degrees. and 78 today in livermore. we'll see this weather pattern continuing and we'll talk about why and what is ahead. that is coming up in the full microclimate

. >> a lot of changes over the last couple of minutes, kari. i didn't get to change this to red but we should see that because just been declared traffic alert for northbound 85, alert for folks out of the almaden valley, northbound 85 approaching union. two lanes blocked so only half your freeway available, headed north toward the rest of silicon vall valley, saratoga and cupertino. the rest of the bay shows a smoother flow of traffic but we are looking anywhere north of let's say the bay bridge, because the san mateo bridge is just showing us typical pattern. the bay bridge the metering lights are on. the crash cleared from vallejo, good news for westbound 80, so did highway 4 but you're backed up out of pittsburg and bay point, west highway 4 cleared before port chicago highway. this alert over here continues, northbound 101 headed up to 580 and a lot of folks we put on our surface streets are taking sir francis drake, that's moving okay but that last tail end down to one lane northbound 101 approaching 580 an overturned vehicle and a spill.

let's head over to meteorologist kari hall. what we can expect with all of this fog. >> moving into areas we don't always see fog that dense so it's really affecting parts of the south bay. look at san martine down to zero and the north bay a dense fog advisory. let's get a look at the cameras now and our high temperatures for this afternoon. the south bay will reach up to about 75 degrees. the peninsula in the upper 60s and then some upper 70s for the tri-valley. the east bay reaches up to 74 degrees. in the north bay some upper 70s with sunshine later today. mike, you have an alert for the tri-valley. >> be very careful. a relatively mild commute on the freeways. a deadly crash is causing a closure here that is just off 680. exit sunol and get down on foothill if you have to go through that area. the rest of the bay the fog is the biggest factor. really dense. >> a warning and video that seems to back it up. police posting this footage of a mountain lion making its way threw a backyard. a neighbor's ring camera captured this.

kari has a look at our forecast today. >>> it's going to be a cooler today. we had warm weather recently. we are starting out with clouds here and much of the bay area this morning. as we go into the rest of the day we'll see our temperatures at least starting to stay on the cool side with mid-50s now and temperatures making it into the low 60s by early this afternoon only reaching 64 degrees for the east bay. mike, chp blotters are clear? >>> as far as crashes, incidents, we only have construction and road crews. right now a clear view of the bay bridge. right now the drive is unimpe unimpeded. easy feed out of antioch and highway 4. a smooth flow of traffic here looking at slowing into palo alto. we'll look at the live cameras. >>> 4:31. when it comes to oakland this was the scene last night, the first time the sides came face-to-face since an angry school closures. as "today in the bay's" cheryl hurd reports, protesters with an unexpected move. >> reporter: oakland school board meeting packed with people protesting school closures. and they came to express

let's get to the forecast with kari. a nice day ahead? >> it will be a nice day and as we check out our temperature trend for this morning in los gatos we're going to see a start in the mid-50s. another mild start but we will also see some changes as we go through the day. the sun will peek out from behind the clouds. we will have an all clear day and temperatures head into the mid-70s here. we have some upper 70s for the inland areas from morgan hill, over toward the east bay, and the tri-valley, into the north bay, we'll see some upper 70s, while san francisco today will stay in the upper 60s. headed over to mike now, you're not starting with the traffic alert? >> no, but we have one. i want to start with the very unexpected slower drive here north 85 between camden and union, we have two crashes, one involved up to five vehicles on the initial report and one may be off its wheels. this is the slow stretch headed up toward highway 17, just a shout out. look at the rest of the area, we don't see the south bay commute really kick in for a
