i'm a san francisco resident of d9 and i'm here with the san francisco aids foundation and advocacy network. i wanted to talk briefly about the city's commitment to getting to zero. zero hiv transmissions, zero hiv related deaths and stigma. this is an issue that impacts all of us. i particularly wanted to lift up people living with hiv and mental health care needs. people who are here and around in sanfrancisco when the epidemic first hit experienced a lot of trauma and lost a lot of their social support networks and to this day, they have a lot of really complex pyschosocial needs, including access to mental health services. they fought for future generations to be able to survive. and now, it's our turn to fight and to support them. we can't get to zero unless we address this crisis. part of that is acknowledging there are dozens people who die every year by suicide and that's unacceptable. i wanted to talk briefly about people who use drugs and how they deserve nonjudgmental services. many experience a lot of trauma on the street and oftentimes use substances to survive. every year we s

san francisco did that. so i salute san francisco. i made the right choice, you know. and every day, you know, when we're open, we welcome 25 to 30 transgender non-conforming individuals. my most ecstatic pleasure is to let them know things that are happening about san francisco that can improve the quality of their lives. these are folks who are usually in crisis mode and choose not to be in shelters because they would rather be in the streets. they feel safer in the streets. we're trying to improve that. we have such amazing leadership that works with my community. i want to thank you all for that. i specialize in event productions, and i think i can probably say that we have uplifted many of our events, and you provided that also from the human rights commission to the office of transgender initiative, you've given us some perks to make things really better for us. i cannot thank you all enough for allowing me to do that and let me flourish. and being a member of positively trans has allowed me to really just be myself. i want to let everyone know, hey, i'm hiv posi

i am a san francisco resident. i work with allied mechanical crafts and i'm here in support of this 65 ocean project. before coming here i took a look at what housing costs are like the neighborhood. as you can see, someone can zoom in, it's virtually all single family homes over $1 million. you know, first i think we need to commend all of the folks that are coming here to tell you about the needs for affordable housing in the neighborhood. it is clearly there. there's no question about it. as the same time we heard in the early part of the presentation today, there has not been any construction in the neighborhood for years and this is the i live in bayview hunters point try to have a house on the street for me that is being rented out for $9,000 a month. this is something like one of these. continuing to reject projects like this one that are on effectively vacant land that are replacing and providing space for a childcare facility that are creating a real career opportunities for union construction workers. no

i am here as a citizen of san francisco. i fully support the comments just made by the attorney who spoke to you a few moments ago. i park on gilbert street and have for the last 19 years. i am well acquainted with the woman who i rent my parking space from, and she has told me many times how she would have to suffer the burdens of this name change. i fully agree that naming the public defender building after mr. adachi would be wholly appropriate and, frankly, would not be a burden on anyone. i would also point out that it's my belief, and i know this from contact with san francisco police department officers, that the circumstances that brought about the tragic and terrible demise of mr. adachi was not all together clear to the public. i'm well aware of what actually happened, and i believe that naming a street for mr. adachi is actually in furtherance of that effort by this city to conceal what actually happened. he deserved to be recognized for his fine work. there's no question about that, but certainly not by naming th

storefronts in san francisco. the board of supervisors voted to put a measure on the march ballot that would impose a vacancy tax on landlords who leave their storefronts empty for more than six months. the goal is to encourage them to speed up renting out their properties either by reducing the rent or finding a create even more problems for the growing number of struggling landlords in san francisco. >>> the city of san rafael hopes to establish quiet zones at all of its crossings for the smart train. people have been complaining about those trains and allowed horns at all hours of the day. now the city is filing an application with the federal government to create quiet zones at all crossing between third street and anderson drive. those horns are blaring as part of smart train's simulated passenger service from sonoma county airport to larkspur rafael recently made several safety improvements a train crossings which could help the city get the approval for the quiet zone. >>> today is expected to be the busies

however, at that time, much of san francisco as we know today was undeveloped. carcarl nolte wrote that in thoe days the city was compromised of only the northeastern section of san francisco and there was a county which was everything else. in the last 100 years, although it's populated with established neighborhoods, the county still does not have a high pressure water system for firefighting. and as a result, it's a very dangerous place today. for example, earlier this year, there was a gas main fire at parker and gerry in the richmond district. this fire, taking hours to extinguish, required host lines to be connect the to low hydrants blocks away. every street in san francisco has a gas main, just like the one on gerry boulevard and every house has a gas connection. in the next big earthquake that we all know is coming, it is estimated that it could be as many as 20 simultaneous fires in unprotected areas. each fire requiring multiple units to fight it and only a handful of 18 trucks are in use today. this would not be adequate to deal with the inch of that

i've had the honor to live in various parts of san francisco. whether it was waiting for the 44 in the dark over in mission, are not knowing if the 108, now the 25 would even show up at all i have lived many different transit experiences. transit equity is at the core of these experiences and drives me. overall, these extremes have shown me consistencies in our transit particularly in communities of color. there is no reason we should have transit deserts. especially in one of the wealthiest cities in the nation. i've been fortunate to have become active in the mission community with the san francisco latino democratic and united save the mission coalition. mitigating the effects of gentrification. i believe my on the ground work as a community advocate mixed in with my experience of growing up on transit give me a unique perspective to build partnerships for transit equity to come up with bold and creative solutions to the opportunities our transit faces. including supporting free muni for all. thank you for your time. >> any other applicants t

it's an exciting time to be in san francisco. it is about to engage in a powerful exercise of implementing a shared vision for behavioral health services for the most vulnerable citizens of our city. community-based providers, the non-profit sector in this city, are ready to begin the challenging work of collaborating with city and county services and with the various other people providing major services to the mentally ill unfortunately in the criminal justice system and other sectors, to make sure that this is our opportunity to create a program that will become a model. we're excited to be in this engagement with everybody. keep watching, participating, keep bringing your ideas into the system because we're going to build an incredible behavioral health system in this city. thank you.
