and jeff van drew and collin peterson are the outliers. democrats say the real story are those dozens of front line democrats who voted for impeachment even though it wasn't in their political best interests. now, the news that we're tracking today of course is what comes next in this process. and to clarify this for people because these rules between the house and the senate, it's arcane, it can be confusing. look, there were two additional steps that house democrats had to do in order to tee up a senate trial. one was that the house speaker had to name the house impeachment managers, that group of house lawmakers who will basically act as prosecutors on the senate floor. the other thing they had to do was transmit the articles of impeachment. but after the vote the house speaker gave that press conference last night where it seemed as if she was saying that she wasn't going to commit to a timeline for doing either of those things. and it seemed as if she was making a ploy to build more leverage, to say in effect to mitch mcconnell, look,

take, for example, the event scheduled in the district of minnesota democratic congressman collin peterson. peterson says he hasn't yet decided whether he's going to vote yes on the articles of impeachment. he represents a district that's projected to be a tossup in the 2020 election. his constituents plan to let him know what they want him to do when the house meets to vote on impeachment articles on wednesday. impeachment process by design doesn't have a public component. it's up to our representatives in congress to do just that. to represent their constituents. in that room as they consider ostensibly indicting the president which they're going to do in the house on wednesday and potentially removing him which is what they're going to consider in the senate. while congress does its work, people across the country are planning to put a very interesting form of pressure on their lawmakers tomorrow night to remind them who they represent and what they want. joining us now is ezra levin, co-executive director of ind indivisib indivisible, one of the groups involved in tomorrow's rallies. >

i mean jeff van drew, collin peterson, two members of congress, two democrats, they're not fans of the president. they're critics of the president, and yet they didn't vote with democrats. they voted with republicans. we've even got some republicans, my colleague will hurd from texas, he didn't mind being a critic of the president, and he was honest and told them this is not impeachable conduct. they told us that the process would be fair. and yet even when members of this committee sought the opportunity not to read a transcript or see someone's second performance of their testimony but to see their first-hand account, how they reacted, how they were breathing, did they fidget when they responded, we wanted to see those things and we were excluded by the intelligence committee. democrats said that to put our country through this it would require compelling and overwhelming evidence. and each and every time they try to cast doubt on the president's conduct we are able to show a legitimate concern the president had in corruption. we are able to cite the transcript that demonstrates no c

you have a democratic member in your own state, collin peterson, who didn't vote to go through the procedure. he's from a trump district. is that what you hear? >> let me talk about how i see this. yes, this is a legal impeachment proceeding. and it could result in him being thrown out of office. that is true. but i see this as part of a bigger pattern. and the pattern is this. he betrays the trust of the american people. he puts his private interests, he puts his business interests, his partisan political interests in front of our country. that's what people get. that's whyia see, for instance, the fact that he went out there and rallied for the opponents, republicans in louisiana and kentucky, and the democrats won. we have a new democratic governor in kentucky. and that is because the people said, you know what, he's betrayed us on health care. we haven't been able to get the health care we want. >> do you fear, though, what he could do? how he would interpret a senate acquittal? >> i have no idea what he will do. all i know is that we have an obligation to the country to lead, to have th
