harris? >> harris: thank you very much. we want to do more on the story now, let's bring in retired nypd lieutenant commander joe cardinale. it's always great to see you, and fortunate circumstances. this has taken a political twist with bill de blasio in new york having to defend what he calls driving down the amount of crime that we see in the city and types of crimes, you say what? >> it's the same story, i agree with statements that were made earlier by the former commissioner. he just doesn't get it that everything is antipolice, the criminals feel emboldened to go out there and commit these crimes and everything and crime is up in certain areas and they're saying in this park over here but if you think about it, this is a horrific crime and he's trying to -- were going to do everything but it's a day late and dollar short type of thing. he has to start getting on board with everything coming out. >> harris: what are your sources telling you inside the department? >> morale is down, no doubt about it. when you handcuff

>> harris: i will be quick. just to kind of respond to what marie was saying and also you, what you are laying out is why marie doesn't trust the process and i don't think that it's trust is in any political party, doesn't matter where you are, for the reasons you just laid out i think the american public looks at this, another investigation, can we be honest about the findings? on both sides of the isle you would have to agree, those 17 areas where there were problems, we've got problems and we need to start a fix that. fbi director christopher wray talking about the things he wants to fix, the secret court, things we need to fix and we may very well find the same thing, let's be honest about it when it comes out. i don't need a signpost on this, i'm going to wait. the other one, we just got it two weeks ago. let's be patient and wait and see what they find and agree that the facts are the facts. >> katie: isn't accountability important? this was not just mistakes that were made, there was doctored information,

i would go and talk to voters and if it was at harris or warren events, they said they knew harris was a prosecutor from california. when you ask about others, they were more familiar with her story. she was a individual that took pride and focus on people, for the people, as part of her slogan at the same time. struggle to identify for people, her own personal story. i think you saw her best moment when she said i was that little girl from the first debate talking about being bussed. that is when people felt that connection to her. but what you saw was a campaign that focused a lot of fundraising. they were not able to be on the television air waves in the last several months. while you see the air waves, this is a candidate that has struggled to answer the question of if she ruled out private insurance. there is a medicare for all option. it was difficult to explain her health care position. this is a candidate, two months out, the reality is that everyone is quite frankly shocked that this is a candidate in this position now. i think in talking to folks after the summer there, a gre
