explain the decision now to embrace barack obama. >> look. i think all our ads do two things. they show who bernie sanders is and they contrast bernie sanders with other candidates. pundits can talk about timing and all sorts of things. we made a decision to put this ad on the air today because we think it's a way we can highlight bernie sanders best in the states coming up. michigan, missouri and washington state now. >> when you look at what you have -- what the candidate has said is going to happen, what it takes to beat trump, what your movement is doing and see the reality of what we saw last night, places where turnout was up, didn't help your coalition but biden's coalition, what is your explanation? what have you seen in the data looking that the wondering, boy, we want to get a higher turnout among young voters but not turning up? what is your diagnosis? >> look. places the media isn't looking. look at the latino vote in california for bernie sanders, young latino vote which overwhelmingly i believe 80% in california went to bernie sanders. there are -- which is by th

but i will tell you something which impresses me very much about barack obama. i talked to him many, many months ago. we talk about the campaign, and i had called him up and i think all of the candidates basically had, and i dropped in to see him. he said you know what, bernie, i'm not going to get involved. and he kept his word. you may have seen him just the other day. he said -- i think biden had reached out to him and wanted his support. and he said no, i think i will be more effective in supporting the eventual winner and not getting involved early on. i know that there's an enormous pressure on him to support biden, and the fact that he's not doing that makes me respect him even more. >> if at the end of the day it turns out that vice president biden is going to have more delegates than you do heading into the convention, will you drop out? >> of course i'm going to -- he will win. we'll run through -- i suspect we will run through the process letting people have a right to vote, but if biden walks into the convention or at the end of the process has more

i think that barack obama had his concerns. but now that we're facing a choice between bernie sanders and one other candidate, you could sort of see, as you put it, as carol lee and her colleagues wrote, the subtle hand of obama kind of coming into play here in which they're clearing the field to some extent of the other moderate alternatives so that it is a biden versus sanders kind of contest. >> everybody strap in. super tuesday starts in hours. our great thanks to peter baker, to carolyn ryan, to donna edwards for starting us off on manic monday, i guess. >>> coming up, we'll have more on the coronavirus, the administration's response to it thus far. an expert on pandemics and the person who led the obama response to ebola among our guests. >>> and later, a retired u.s. four-star army general weighs in on trump's peace deal with the taliban. "the 11th hour" just getting started on a busy consequential monday night. which of your devices are protected by daily security updates? daily security updates... daily? i don't know.
