jeff: it depends on how long this goes on. we have to keep in mind, the valuation gap we had going in. the toughest part for the markets to digest, we went into this with very overinflated levels of confidence across all risk assets. that just didn't feel right. there's always these black swan events, whether it be the knowns, like the u.s. political situation, or the unknowns, like the virus for russia-saudi .rabia challenges we would eventually will find a base, but we will eventually have to find answers before the market begins to recover. amanda: when you do look to recovery, where will you look for it, jeff? will it be company specific, or sectors getting swept up. tha -- swept up here that n eedn't? jeff: people are excited on the trading floor today because there are things to do. there is new information to slowly digest. in some of the portfolios, we went into this very defensively. is aimes the best offense great defense, and that is what we are finding. we will find out if it is a baby thrown out with the bathwater

jeff: thank you for having me. we look at the stimulus bill that just passed, it did a couple of good things for homeowners and renters. togave them the framework make their way through the uncharted period of time. a homeowner can have up to six months of deferment and they could start making the payments down the road. as far as the impact on is still unfolding. we were asked how much repurchase volume we could do on behalf of of our lenders. while the refinancing and purchase market is still abundant, it is whatever going to do for forbearance or modification. it has completely changed in the last 30 days. until i think we see the end of the virus and start to see an upswing, there will be a tremendous amount of uncertainty in the housing market financing area. emily: what is your biggest advice to consumers in terms of how they navigate it. his financing or refinancing a no-brainer? jeff: right now, if you are looking to refinance your house, it would be a good time. to take some equity out, may be put it on th

jeff: the bill will provide a lot of support for testing across the nation. the challenge we have had with the numbers is the lack of specificity. example, the vice president came before the democratic caucus and said they would be a million tests in the mail. well, no, not quite. by the way, you need a couple of tests for each person. it means that they will be mailed out to clinics across the country. when will they arrive? how many will be at one particular clinic or hospital? this was emphasized with the secretary and the vice president. do not overstate the response. if it means that we will be able to conduct, if you will, 100,000 tests on friday of this week, put it that way, so people have a realistic understanding of how we are responding. confident we are on a path where we can get to the point where we can test, to know the size of the problem? we don't really know the size of the problem in the united states right now. are we on a path to get there, and if so, any sense on the time horizon of that path? isf: the administration saying we are on tha

let's bring in our chief meteorologist, jeff ranieri. jeff, welcome news in terms of the rain. maybe the timing not so great. >> i know. a lot of us would like to be outside, continuing to get that fresh air, but it's on the way, so we're going to have to deal with it here as we head through the next couple of days. in fact these chances of rain, we have this storm system off to the north. not only wet but a cold blast. 20-degree drop by tomorrow and then of course that chance of rain. i do see some showers off to the north developing by 5:00 in the morning. then once we hit 9:30 over the peninsula, east bay and a few showers for the south bay. there's going to be a lot of different moving parts with this, so i wanted to headline this for you real quick. rain develops saturday. accumulates into sunday. isolated chance of some thunderstorms, even some of that small hail. cold 50s, low sierra snow down to 2,000 feet, and very dangerous for the sierra. we're going to take a much closer look at this. i'll have details you're not going to want to miss coming up in about eight minute
