lisa: yes. although they do discern the fact that it is just the highest quality junk bonds they are focusing on and not that much with respect to junk-bond etf's. i have no doubt you and michael mckee will press him on whether they are starting to feel uncomfortable and put that question to him. we are looking forward to it. i know you have to prepare. i will let you run as we shift gears to china, also in focus right now. i am pleased to say leland miller of the china beige book ceo joins us now. so hard to parse the noise from the reality when it comes to the saber rattling between the u.s. and china. what measures being proposed by u.s. congress traders should analysts be taking more seriously? there are a couple of different things happening. that is one of the reasons why people are complacent about what is in a norma's downside risk to markets over the coming weeks and months -- there is an enormous downside risk to markets over the coming weeks and months. thee is a presumption president

lisa: it has been shocking. i have been watching hyg, the blackrock high-yield on etf, that has seen $2 billion of inflows this week. youyou basically saying guys are overpricing the fed put, and right now we just want to hide out in investment grade and treasuries? kathy: we definitely prefer investment grade, and at the shorter end, one to five years, which is what the fed is buying. on the high-yield, we are neutral, but being really cautious. a lot of these companies won't qualify for the fed's program. we do look for defaults to pick up maybe as high as 10% in the speculative defaults, and we think recovery rates are going to be low. so particularly with the ccc's and the very low rated bonds, we would definitely be out of that. jonathan: this is the pain trade, and we saw it play out in europe over the last 10 years. once the central bank gets involved in an asset class, it is totally divorced from fundamentals. we saw that over the last 10 years. i do wonder whether that is the playbook this time around,

lisa: thank you so much. you talk about specific stock movers, people focus not just on amazon but apple is also lower by more than a percent after not providing a forecast for the first time in more than a decade. this has sparked some investor concern despite the fact they increased their dividend and buyback. tim cook spoke with emily chang earlier. take a listen to what he had to say. >> apple reported revenue that beat estimates, driven by growth and services and wearables. iphone sales were down 6.7%, but not as bad as some feared. i spoke about all of this in an interview with tim cook. he says he is already starting to see sales research. he said the last part of margin the first part of april were very depressed, and then a pickup relative to that same time. we are not projecting when we will do this quarter because of a lack of certainty and a lack of visibility. apple is not releasing a forecast for the quarter or the year. some analysts disappointed about that. i did get a chance to act about his

>> lisa, thank you. we'll continue to follow the protests in the east and south bay over the death of george floyd. he is the man who died in minneapolis police custody earlier this week. it sparked nationwide protests. in oakland, protests seemed to disperse around 1:30 this morning, about 5 1/2 hours after they first began marching. police say they're investigating an incident involving two contract security officers for the federal protective service who were shot. they say one of those officers has died from his injury. the other officer is in stable condition. the fbi said a person inside a vehicle began fighting gun shots at contract security officers. they are investigating to determine whether the shooting is related to the protests. protests were happening, though, in that area when the shooting happened. federal protective service, which falls under the department of homeland security, provides security and law enforcement services at u.s. government facilities. >>> oakland police say there are

lisa: how would that make you reallocate your investments? developed countries are going to stop relying on monetary policy to help us limp along, but invest in new technology, incentivize corporate capex, there's nothing that correlates there with productivity -- correlates better with productivity than r&d. toif you expect on a plummet rise, and equality to decline, that is how you see meaningfully hired gdp growth in developed economies that have otherwise stagnated at 1% or 2%. that means all of the trades that everyone has hated for so long, the value stocks, the financials, materials, industrials, europe, japan, the things that people don't own today, suddenly look much more attractive in a world of higher volatility. are you telling me this rotation into value, into the cyclical areas of this market, is not just a squeeze? it has legs? jared: i am not telling you this is the one. here's meteorologist lisa argen. good morning, lisa. >> hey, liz, good morning to you. a weak front has pushed through the north bay, leaving behind some fog and wet pavement. now pushing through the east bay and on the peninsula. vallejo is certainly looking like you have some light rain there. down around martinez, and over into the east bay, oakland, alameda, very light showers, down through harbor parkway and foond the the south and west peninsula, redwood city, some light showers down through pescadero. looking athe level one system today the scattered showers, we get a break throughout the day. more rainfall tonight, a tenth for most of you and a foggy look out there from mt. tam. 59 downtown, it's 57 on the coast. you can see here it is rather gray from the golden gate bridge, 60 in napa with vee. so it is a mild start. we'll see the showers taper off. scattered throughout the day, widely scattered so the bulk of temperatures in the 60s and another wave of showers moves through tonight. we'll talk about this lasting into your monday coming up. >> thanks, lisa. >>

>> lisa, thank you. p of we head into a new week, reopening tomorro, san francisco, san mateo and marin counties will start the second phase. this is the early stage of phase two, that does not mean dine-in restaurants, shopping malls or schools can reopen yet but here is what will be allowed in the three counties starting tomorrow. curbside retail pickup, manufacturing, childcare for those outside of the essential workforce, outdoor museums, car washes and some offices where telework isn't possible. as for the rest of the bay area, alameda and contra costa counties will follow that sometime this week. we just haven't gotten an exact day. napa, sonoma and solano counties are already into phase two. only santa clara county has yet to determine a date to keep numbers down they say is the bay area's most populous county. in parts of san francisco's marina district this weekend t looks like business as usual from before the pandemic hit. take a look at this, things are definitely picking up, perhaps a little
