to charlie gasparino, who is ready to name names. hi, charlie. charlie: liz, as we reported first on your show on monday, i know you weren't here for the festivities, we reported first on fox business -- liz: i heard. charlie: this was going to come this weekend, there were going to be bidders lining up. here's what we know about the potential bidders. not all of them have -- this is now chapter 11 which means it's up to a bankruptcy judge, essentially, to figure out who should own the company, which is best for the company. here's what we know. there's going to be i would say three or four of them. most of the bidders are going to essentially want to downsize this thing significantly. they are going to want to get rid of most of the u.s. store footprint. they are going to want, if they keep manufacturing, they want to offload it overseas. a lot of them may just license the brand and put it on already manufacturer's clothes. that is a real possibility. there's one of the bidders that's emerging is going a different route and that's a guy named da

charlie gasparino has the details on a possible brooks brothers bankruptcy. charlie? charlie: yeah. i know bankruptcy sounds bad and it is bad. brooks brothers is bleeding money and the current economic downturn hasn't helped matters much. the company is moving closer to a bankruptcy filing, sources are telling the fox business network, but at the same time, there's also an interesting i guess you might say bidding war for the company's assets. there are at least two potential bidders that are talking about putting money in, if and when the company goes into bankruptcy. it's best to buy it in bankruptcy because you can lowball current shareholders get wiped out, but then you pay off, and then the company pays off the remaining creditors with the money so this is why companies like buying in bankruptcy. it's a lower price. the two that are in there now is simon property and authentic brands but here's what fox business has learned and this is exclusive details, that the latest potential bidder includes a gentleman by the name of david jackson. you might know him as the former chairma

charlie: yeah. we were first to break on fox business that microsoft is indeed in talks with bytedance, that's the parent company of tiktok, to buy at least the u.s. portion of tiktok. you know, tiktok is a global company, as you know. i didn't know what tiktok was until i first started covering this story although i do seem to recall my 11-year-old niece doing music videos on this platform named tic-tac. at least that's what i thought it was called. but be that as it may, it's very popular. it's 80 million u.s. users, 800 million globally. microsoft is in talks with bytedance to buy at least the u.s. portion of this thing. i'm going to do a full write-up on this because it's very complicated. we should point out that bytedance actually initiated the talks with microsoft, i understand. why did it do that? it did that about a month ago because it knew its time was coming near, that the u.s. -- that cfius, the unit of the treasury department that basically allows foreign companies to operate in the u.
