>> reporter: well, that's exactly right, yasmin. as he was boarding to come here to erie, pennsylvania, we got word that the former vice president tested negative for the sixth time. this is a disclosure his campaign said they would keep making. they said he tests regularly and each result they'd share with the public, so a move for transparency. it does a few other things. yes, we're in the midst of a campaign happening during a pandemic. there's a lot of concern from these candidates' health from a pandemic perspective. but especially when you see one of these two men running for president test positive for coronavirus, in this case donald trump, i think a lot of voters are interested in keeping up with the health of these candidates. the biden campaign releasing results from a transparency perspective. there's a more political piece to this -- i don't know if it's a motorcade or just cars, i'm keeping an eye out in case biden shows up. the other political piece is that it allows biden to lead by example, allows him to show he's t

i'm yasmin vassoughian. we want to get right into some major developments surrounding the president and covid, as the white house is saying the next 48 hours are going to be critical. the white house also dealing with some major confusion after a briefing by the president's doctors, scrambling to clarify the record after the doctor set off a firestorm with these six short words. >> just 72 hours into the diagnosis now. >> 72 hours would have completely changed the timeline of when the president and the white house knew for sure that he had covid. but then the white house quickly briefed pool reporters to say, despite what the doctor said, the president was not diagnosed until thursday night. the doctor has also now release

let me make one more point here, yasmin. the president has not been involved in this process for months and months. there's been negotiations for 92 days. he's not been involved in them at all. it's understandable why this process hasn't moved because the president has budget an absent participant in these negotiations although his administration has done some negotiating. >> expand on the reporting. it seems as though the president has business dealings in china coming from "the new york times." he also has a bank account in china. i know forks was reporting about a week or so ago that the bank of china was a lender of the president and one of his holdings here in the united states. this seems like, a, a conflict of interest. this also complicates the messaging from the president when he says joe biden is soft on china and the president knows how to deal with china. >> well, this reporting really complicates president trump's push to try to make this case about the fact that he thinks biden should be labeled beijing biden.

yasmin, listen to this from the president on testing and the number of cases. >> you know why we have cases so much? because that's all we do is test. if we cut our testing down in half, they'd say well, they wouldn't say that, but cases would go down. >> no. i mean we looked at the cdc data this morning, and testing is up, yes, it's up 16% in the last month, but cases are up 55%, and jake pushed mark meadows on that yesterday morning. i don't, i mean, those are numbers you cannot dispute, right? >> right, poppy. this is such a blatant lie. the u.s. does not have more cases because we do more testing, and honestly, we're in october now. i am so tired of having to debunk this over and over, but the president keeps repeating this lie, actually if you look at our testing in the u.s., it's terrible. it's such a low rate compared to other countries. some of the states especially in the northeast did testing out of the park and had good rates and no coincidence those were the same states high testing rates, lower test positivity rates, because testing really helps you get a handle on where
