he's an msnbc political contributor. yamiche alcindor, an msnbc political analyst. and let me begin with you. what are we to make of donald trump's silence especially when we're watching joe biden go out day after day and make presidential addresses to the nation? >> based on my reporting the president is fuming and really he's starting to feel deflated in some ways. the mood at the white house is one of solemn indignation as well as people trying to feel like they want to fight but really understanding the math just isn't on their side. of course the president would have to run the table in order to win this election. and he can't do that because he'd have to of course win -- he couldn't possibly do it, but looks like he would do it and people around the president he spent most of the day watching tv. what you can make of that silence the president doesn't know what to say because there's so many people in the white house trying to maybe tell the president he might lose this. another thing to notice now just tonight with the chief of staff having come up tested pos

like no offense but msnbc has basically become comedy central. you just have to play the clips and you're done. so i think that's positive. what i hope doesn't happen is that we forget that this isn't really about trump but about the issues and about the things we care about. as comedians if we're holding truth to power, trump might be -- i want to call it a reign instead of the a term, mig-- ina term. there's still a lot to talk about and our role as comedians is to challenge power and be funny. i almost forgot being funny. >> right. that does seem to be a critical component of the job. do you have a sense yet of how you would explain this election to someone who did not live through it? >> well, i have a 3-month-old. i've been trying to figure out how that's going to happen. i don't know exactly how to explain it. because a reality tv star became president. united states and then four years later there was a big election, which was compromised by a global pandemic, at which point paper ballots were used. paper is something that humans used to m

although i daresay there are more conservatives to appear regularly on msnbc than they do any other cable news networks. one of the reasons i like to be on msnbc, i had to learn to present a case to a liberal left wing audience, and i think over time it's been pretty successful, i think while i haven't convinced everybody who watches the network that they should embrace conservatism, i get a lot of comments that i did not know what conservatism was in at least now i understand as a rationale so being accused of a lefty and i am a trump critic, they say you've gone over to the left and i say no, i'm "still right", so i thought the title for an immigrant loving hybrid driving composting american, which is all true, i think we should be a pro-immigration country and i drive a hybrid and i love technology to protect the environment, and we compost here at the tither household and make two to 3 yards a year that we use an organic gardening. i never thought that was a liberal idea, i thought it was a conservation idea. >> i will say our local town operates on a pay as you grow garbage whe

go to msnbc's corey coffin from milwaukee. good morning to you. you spoke with a patient battling coronavirus. that must have been tough. what did they tell you? >> reporter: yeah, alex, good afternoon to you, too. such an emotional interview. his name is tom bevens, 62 years old and staying here at the hospital in milwaukee, and this is one of more than 100 patients they have at this facility. now, tom told me that he had a double lung transplant last year. was recovering from that obviously trying to be very careful, despite that was diagnosed with covid in late october and has been in the hospital trying to recover from that and other applications. i asked how that compared, what he's fighting through now, compared to what he did last year. he told me, it was more emotional for the double lung transplant last year. such a massive operation, but wouldn't wish this on anyone and what he's fighting through now with covid-19. not even on his worst enemy. something else that makes it even tougher is that as he's going through this in the hospital on

i want to bring in msnbc contributor dr. redwinner. thank you for joining us. it's incredibly troubling and it speaks to a bigger trend not only in europe but across this country as well. and it talks to the politicization of this pandemic. the pope right an op-ed in "the new york times" i believe thursday, where he talks about the politicization of this pandemic has been so incredibly deadly in a way causing so many lives lost. why do you think this has happened? and do you think it will change under a biden administration? >> well, yasmin, that's the hope. although i think there's reason to be concerned here. we have, you know, unfortunately really good news about the development of these new vaccines now tempered very much so by the issues that are just coming to the fore. as you just pointed out, yasmin. we have not only politicization of the management of a huge lethal pandemic, as you've mentioned, but we now have extreme right wing groups popping up all over the world including the united states, a very strong anti-vax movement in europe and the u.s. so
