the bbc‘s international correspondent orla guerin reports from the scene of one of the collapsed buildings in izmir where a search operation is continuing. well, the rubble here is several storeys high. this is what remains of an apartment block called the riza bey. it was mainly flats, but there were offices on the ground floor. and this building was eight floors high. looking at all of this crushed concrete, it is hard to imagine that anyone else could be brought out alive. but another survivor was found here overnight. a man in his 70s. now, rescue teams are still working. they are on top of the rubble. they are searching by hand, but also with dogs. they have been using heavy machinery to pull away huge slabs of concrete. and as they are doing all of that, a short distance away relatives are maintaining a vigil. many have been here since the moment of the earthquake — that was 2:51pm on friday afternoon, local time. we have spoken to one man whose sister is missing. she is a woman of 24 and she was working in the dentist's office here at the bottom of the building. now, since the qua

orla guerin is in izmir. this is the location where that extraordinary rescue took place. behind me is the mound of rubble which was the apartment buildings. it was eight stories high. this is where three—year—old ellis was found and she had spent 65 hours underneath all of that concrete could. she is the fourth child from the same family to be found. originally, her mother and three of her siblings were recovered after about 23 hours. sadly, one of those siblings has since it died. this was an extraordinary moment for the rescuers who had been working for so long, looking for her, and there was great emotion here at the site when she was brought out. this rescue has of course brought hope for others who are still waiting for news of their loved ones, and there are certain operations continuing at eight sites here in his —— and izmir. with every day that passes, the death toll is increasing. we'll be live in south carolina where the senate race is being watched closely. lindsey graham, a staunch trump ally, is leading his democrat challenger byjust two points. a ne

that's orla guerin translating for the president there. here's more from her in baku, the azeri capital. from the point of view of azerbaijan which does not defy fight more. its chief victories on the ground but also know a double medic agreement which means that refugees, people who are displaced from here almost 30 years ago can return, and that's been a key demand of azerbaijan all the way along. this is the history. both countries fought over nagorno karabakh in the late 19805 and early 905. it was then that the region declared independence from azerbaijan — and effectively became part of armenia. this displaced many azeris who lived there — they are the refugees that orla was referring to. the fighting began again in september and armenia has lost ground. this deal means azerbaijan means will hold on to areas of nagorno—karabakh that it has taken during this recent conflict. armenia has also agreed to withdraw from several other areas. before i continue any further, i can see the president electjoe biden stepping onto the stage
