we can now speak to paul mitchell who's vice president of political data inc, a bipartisan voter data firm based in california thank you so much for coming on the programme. thanks for having me. let's get into the nuts and bolts of this. most of the time people are not too interested in the intricacies of voting accounting systems, but not this time. the world is watching. give us an idea about the fact that different states will have different ways and roots of counting their votes, and what difference that will make. sure, so where i live in california the biggest days, we have 22 million voters and over 11 million ballots a body been cast, and on tuesday night the minute the polls closed, those counties can report the results from those early voters that have been swinging predominantly democratic based on who has turned in their ballot, so we will see this big democratic wave right after eight o'clock. in other states and most importantly key states of pennsylvania, wisconsin, and michigan, there are state laws prohibiting them from counting those early boats until after the poll

melissa slot and paul mitchell co-wrote an op-ed over the weekend calling on president trump to accept his loss and allow for a peaceful transition. good to have both of you with us. boy, things have changed since we talked about having you come on the program this morning. congressman mitchell, i know you spoke a few days with norman shingle who said he was voting against certification but he abstained instead. i'm curious. what was the conversation like the two of you had? >> he expressed concerns about the number of things you heard in the board of canvass meeting about the accuracy of the vote and misconduct and potential fraud and a number of things and number of them conspiracy theories. a place maybe push back the vote so we can investigate. as i said, there is no mechanism in michigan law to do that. he was very much in the mode of we should push back and shouldn't certify. he abstained today but he was very critical of the election process. it could always need improvement. we had a record vote, there is going to be the some errors and things you don't like, but i think we had

representative paul mitchell told cnn he had spoken to one of the board of canvassers, one of the republicans, that told him he was thinking about voting against the certification, waiting for an audit. now, there is nothing in the law of michigan that prepares them for something like this. it's very confusing times. i want to note here. if there is some kind of split, if the other republican decides against certifying the election, the speaker of the house in michigan earlier today said that this could be potentially chaotic and even lead to a constitutional crisis. this is all following the fact that michigan republicans and the rnc sent a letter last night to the board of canvassers asking them to delay the certification 14 days waiting for an you had itaudit of wayne detroit. the big question is what is going to happen? we have seen this going back and forth particularly with michigan, this ongoing saga really now it's been escalating for the last week. the big question is what is that other republican canvasser going to do and is there potential for this to lead to, as the speaker of the
