melissa colorado is in union city for us with their story. melissa. >> reporter: this large crack polled by a boom. i think you can guess around 9:30 p.m. the family who lives in this home tells me they heard a large crack followed by a big boom. i think you can guess what that was. this large tree that's right here in the family's front yard fell over on top of the roof. one of the tree limbs managed to pierce a hole through the roof. i want to show you some of the photos that the family shared with us. the family was a bit camera shy. you can see the entire tree fell on top of the family's roof. under that roof, this is what the family saw. bits of the tree piercing through the ceiling of a bedroom. the family says that's when rain started coming into the room and they had to use buckets to collect the water despite the hole in the roof, the family says they slept in in that bedroom anyway. you can see the family has placed that suction tube right there that's coming out of the bedroom window and that is going to suck out any water that's g
