let me read you a few washington post headlines from the past few years. "how fascist is donald trump? "12 signs trump would try to run a fascist dictatorship. "trumpism is american fascism." some of those may have come not from the news pages but the comment pages and there is a very important distinction between the two which is actually more of a distinction in the us and us press than it is in britain, but do you think that the post and other parts of the media overreacted to president trump? well, i'm glad you pointed out that those were headlines, they clearly sounded like headlines that came from our opinion page and nothing that would appear on the news pages for which i'm responsible and i'm not involved in the opinion pages and of course we have a wide variety of opinions on our opinion pages. do you agree with that system where there is such a sharp divide between... because to an english journalist it is a very strange idea, if you think about some of the most powerful newspaper editors in britain, they get most excited about what they can comm

and he died about six weeks after his last cartoon appeared in "the washington post." his last cartoon appeared on august 26th, 2001, and he died just a week shy of his 92nd birthday in october. the library of congress has the herblock collection. we have about 14,460 of his editorial cartoons, but we have nearly all of the work he produced for "the washington post". he did give away cartoons to friends, but we have the majority of his output. so mr. block drew cartoons about presidents from hoover to the second george bush. and so you get to see how his career evolved, how his opinions changed. see how he drew particular presidents. obviously, i just brought out a selection of cartoons to give a sense of how he perceived different presidents and how his style evolved. the first cartoon we have is about herbert hoover who -- which was the first president that mr. block covered. and it shows hoover at the rapidan camp, before camp david existed. hoover favored a camp further down in the shenandoah mountains in rapidan, virginia. and so mr. block has depicted hoover lead

post a little bit of a different take on it from the post. yeah well when they covered the georgia election reform bill you know they did things like put out headlines lamenting the fact that you're going to need voter id and the restrictions of restrictions pictures of people saying let us vote now i want to point to 2 sections of the paper the technology section lamenting the fact that this was a major win for e-commerce and the e-commerce giant amazon which is you know they should point out is also owned by will run by the same person that runs them i didn't see that disclaimer anywhere and i don't have a sarah said ripple effects across the nation for workers and the labor movement they called it a massive blow for the late for labor organizers as if that was a good thing now to me i don't i differ with them politically so i do think it's a pretty good thing but for them to say that is remarkable they bragged about the fact that that biden did a video in support of voting for the union and he failed and what this failure is going to mean

that was the point of "the washington post" story. how amazing, to read something like this, especially now. 1100 miles from washington, in brooklyn center, minnesota, a police officer accidentally reached for her gun instead of a taser and killed a man called daunte wright. it was a tragedy. all shootings are a tragedy. but we know that officer's name because every news organization in the country printed it immediately. she has now resigned, she is now facing charges. her mug shot is everywhere. it is all over the internet. that is why two nights ago, a mob showed up at her house and forced she and her husband to flee. she is not the only one. last august, a police officer in kenosha, wisconsin, shot a man called jacob blake. do you remember that? riots erupted immediately. well, yesterday, that officer was cleared of all charges. in that story broke, npr, national public radio, put that police officer's name and photograph on the front of their website. so that is the standard. except in this case, where they are still hiding the i

he is at 53% approval in the latest nbc news poll. 52% in the new "washington post" abc news poll and 58% in the cbs new gov survey. according to those numbers that puts him ahead of president trump's first 100 days but behind president obama and george w. bush. at this point, in their presidencies jump was at 40%, obama at 61% and bush at 57%. president biden also received high marks for his handling of the country's most pressing issues. on the pandemic, his approval of the 69% in the nbc news poll, the "washington post" survey puts him at 64%. the cbs poll at 65. cbs poll also shows a whopping 72% of americans approve of how he's handled the vaccine distribution. and when it comes to the economy, both the nbc news poll and "washington post" abc news poll have him at 52% and the cbs at 57%. the president's infrastructure and jobs plan is also popular with most american, 59% support the propose until the nbc news poll, and 52% in the "washington post" survey, and 58% in the cbs poll. however, the situation at the southern border continues to take a toll on the president's immigration

. >> "the washington post" is also reporting today the fbi warned je giuliani that he was the target of a russian influence operation. what can you tell us about that? >> reporter: cnn has not confirmed this reporting but "the washington post" says that in 2019 rudy giuliani was warned by the fbi counterintelligence division in what is known as a defensive briefing being told that he was potentially receiving false information from russian operatives who wanted to harm joe biden politically. cnn previously reported that the white house and congress had received briefings that giuliani was receiving misinformation from foreign nationals. but we have not confirmed "the washington post" report that we just received a comment from giuliani's attorney robert costello and he denies this. he says in a statement the story is totally false according to giuliani, never received any such briefing. >> let's discuss with carrie -- a former doj official, and a cnn legal and national security analyst. carrie, beginning with giuliani's legal troubles, listen to this from his fox interview last night
