in the east bay. we'll have a combination of hot temperatures, very dry air and some gusty winds. the winds don't look quite as strong tomorrow until you get higher in elevation. here's the good news for the moment. this is our fire weather tracker. there are 420 of those circles on the map, different reporting stations, and only two of them right now are in red flag conditions. we have another 24 that are yellow circles, meaning they're flirting with red flag conditions. this is not a round the clock event. this time of year, the humidity recovers enough in the late evening and overnight hour that is we get a little bit of a break from the driest weather. but the humidity is just going to plummet once the sun comes up again tomorrow morning. we'll take a look at how long these conditions are going to stick around in a few minutes. >> paul, thank you. >>> tonight four bay area counties are now under a drought emergency, including alameda and contra costa. this as the east bay utilities district askeds

and east bay, including our east bay valleys that expires monday morning. but for solano county that won't expire until monday night at 06:00pm. so we're tracking warm, dry windy weather with these northerly winds really does act more like a hairdryer just warming up and drying out the vegetation out there in the bay area. that's why these winds are so dangerous, they're going to peak in solano county sunday morning and monday morning. but we're going to see that cool sea breeze arriving along the coast bringing much needed moisture and relieved to our coastline and east bay shoreline even going to add some moisture for interior valleys in the east bay and north bay. but then we're tracking a warm up once again to start your workweek forecast on monday and tuesday. and relative humidity going to be in the single digits to low teens throughout much of sunday afternoon and even monday afternoon because of the warm dry weather, even though winds will start to ease up by monday. but our mother's day weekend sunday. we are tracking some cooler temperatures, thou

geography is all the same. >> east bay east of the east bay hills, including these bales, solano county are all in that. and of course, the higher elevations up here in the north bay. now the peninsula has always been out of it because it's insulated from the coast in the bay regards to the wind direction, you're getting some insulation there as well as the east bay shoreline and temperatures have been more modest. there today than we saw. well, inland going on. here's a look at the temperatures that i spoke of mid to upper 70's on the east bay shoreline inland almost about 90 popping. look at the peninsula by contrast 60's 70's san carlos about 89 and up in the north bay out. still the lower 90's as well. now the sides of the winds that we've been talking about the other issue has been the very dry air. we've got single digits for relative humidity levels. you can see how it kind of wraps around the east bay hills. and on the bay side, obviously not a severe. so tonight we're going to see the recovery sort of that's going to cover san francisco in the east bay shoreline but not due to

here is the east bay shoreline here. a little bit of haze off to the distance there around the bay. the cold waters and this really tells the tale. when you see the winds here, you see them a little bit on shore right at the east bay shoreline. but inland boom there straight from the north. so it's spilling in from the sacramento valley. and that's why solano county is the only one they put in a red flag warning zone. it wasn't fire weather watch earlier from this weekend. and that's why they're not including the other areas. however, as we've been talking about locations in the east bay. they're still looking at dry conditions 91 right now in concord, 89 88 for livermore up to the north bay. we already have some 90's look at the label with 90, which tells you that the winds probably not coming in from the bay right now. they're probably coming in from the land right through valley 86 for santa rosa and 92 for napa which sure we're checking everything out direct north arrows and solano county and right at the east bay shoreline. sure. and we go forward and there's another little spi

and inland east bay. we'll see temperatures today running towards the 80s and maybe near 90 degrees in the dry north winds are top concern for the end of the weekend. outside right now, gorgeous start to the morning, san francisco numbers currently in the low 50s. a little hazy around the bay area right now, before the wind picks up, you got that morning temperature inversion, which kind of traps some of the dust and smoke around the region. san jose 56 degrees. similar tri-valley, 55 in livermore and our last stop takes us to walnut creek, where it's a relatively mild 60 degrees and for mom's day brunch plans around walnut creek, you got numbers in the 70s, before lunch time, and then later on today, the upper 80s near walnut creek, though hotter temperatures likely from concord over towards fairfield, see a chance of the numbers closer to 90 degrees. san jose about 82, 70 in san francisco and 76 degrees in oakland. so here's what we're watching closely, the north winds pick up, watch how the humidity nu

monday morning for the north bay hills and mountains, the east bay hills, also the east bay interior valleys. and then for solano county. it takes effect saturday morning, and that goes until six p.m. on monday relative humidity levels will be driven down as this drier, warmer air mass rolls in now we look outside today it's absolutely beautiful blue skies and quite nice and more of an onshore flow. as we see here is we take a look at the wind half moon bay right now gusting about 28 mph. this is all kind of the usual in the afternoon and you could see in about about 25 mph, but that's going to change is a work our way into tonight. so up but the peaks right now you see mount diablo started to get a little%o all of that flow that's kind of coming more from the northwest will start coming more from the north, and that will help to drive that offshore wind, so i want to show you in future cast here. we're looking at three things temperatures. we're looking at relative humidity levels. and of course, we're looking at wind speeds. let me roll this through tonight and show you we get into

in the east bay tonight. oakland police are investigating a deadly crash that happened just after midnight. according to police, the driver of an suv try to avoid hitting an animal in the road. i should say chp is investigating this on the west lanes of i 80 at san pablo dam road when they lost control. the suv then caught fire leaving the driver and passengers trapped in the car. the driver was able to escape the car with minor injuries. but that passenger unable to escape and died at the same. >> a santa rosa police officer went to the hospital after this crash last night. that's being blamed on a distracted driver. you can see here the patrol car is crushed. the officer was parked on the shoulder of ludwig avenue in was hit from behind a small sedan. police say the driver of the sedan was delivering food in the area then went to check a map before he crashed into the back of the patrol car. the sedan was traveling between 3540 miles per hour in did not break prior to hitting the patrol car. the officer has
