police say they found additional fireworks at his home in antioch. in the south bay, the total covid death toll for santa clara county has just gone down. 22% after the county's department of public health redefined the way it counts covid-19 deaths. now initially anyone who had covid at the time of their death was included in the death toll and this was in accordance with the state's definition at the time. well, now the county is only counting those in which covid-19 was listed as the specific cause of death on their death certificates. and this has brought the county's death toll now down by over 500 individuals. and according to county officials, the change comes as part of the county's effort to try and better understand the health impacts of covid-19 on the community. there's new reason for concern about the highly contagious. delta variant of coronavirus. it's now the dominant strain here in california in fact, state health officials say that it now makes up 36% of all cases. and that's a big jump from last may when it only made up about 6% he

anderson's home near the antioch unified school district is inhabitable right now after it almost burned to the ground there. really ever lose my house. really everything i own is out on my front lawn in contra, costa county fire crews initially rushed to her neighborhood around 08:00pm saturday for a vegetation fire. they found a fence and dry grass in flames and nearby. another fence, 2 cars and a boat and a tree were on fire, though they were able to knock those fires down less than 5 minutes later, they responded to the same area to put out flames on anderson's home. the house behind me. we a fire that started on the backside of the house but in the attic, officials believe hot embers from one of the nearby trees blew on to andersen's home. they say they found remnants of fireworks on the street doesn't make sense. we have a drought the bloated public. it's 13 game. i don't even know reason they were just one street over for fireworks. but on some grasses vehicles on fire. >> this is a good likelihood that this from the same anderson. and one of her cats escaped without any injuries.

the streets in the city of antioch and all of them are being assigned body cameras. the first group to use them. activated their equipment just before midnight tuesday. the cameras went live with the first shift. that started after the council meeting, the city council unanimously approved the police department's body and dashcam policies. the program was approved in march but the police oversight committee made up of council members worked over the past 4 months to finalize the details of their use. the police chief city attorney and committee all support the final draft. lieutenant the hills says the cameras will remain light for the entirety of an officer shift except for when they have to tend to personal matters and depending on the severity of the case recorded footage will stay in the police department's cloud system for a minimum of 3 years or forever if need be. and it's not just for the officers because it's for the district attorney to use it for attorneys to use and the 4 victims and witnesses and accused of crimes to use to so they can have some kind of.
