ashley zavala live for us in auburn at the command post for the river fire with an update. ashley. >> well, coming up. and this just in from the governor's office. governor gavin newsom has declared a state of emergency here in of in placer county as well as nevada county because of this river fire now where i'm standing right now is that the firefighters command post at the auburn fairgrounds in downtown operates about 8 miles away from the line of fire. you're not seeing smoke in this area because it's the wind is pushing it further north from here now crews are in the second day of working to contain this fire. so far it's burned 2400 acres and destroyed or damaged about 80 structures. this fire started at a campground and has now forced thousands of people to evacuate more than 5,000 firefighters are working to put out this fire that is close to more populated parts of this region in northern california. now as of this morning, the fire was 0% contained. but the local fire chief is hopeful that in the update they will give us in about an hour. that's the containment num

ashley zavala kron 4 news. >> now to our wildfire coverage. fire crews are working around the clock to try to prevent flames from the dixie fire from reaching the town of paradise of course, that town was partially destroyed by the deadly camp fire in 2018. this is a 12 hour time lapse video of the smoke in the plumas county area from of the fire. this was shot today. so far the dixie fire has burned through more than 248,000 acres since it first started back on july 13th. the fire has destroyed 67 structures. more than 10,000 structures remain threatened at last check. the fire is 35% contained authorities say unpredictable winds and dry fuels are creating a high risk for flare ups. the tamarack fire is nearing full containment that fire is burning south of south lake tahoe near markleeville in alpine county and say east of kirkwood. authorities say storms brought much needed rain to the southern portion of the fire area that allowed fire crews to gain even more ground over the weekend at last check, it's burned more than 68,000 acres and it
