anyway, the two of them decided to come that day, and steny hoyer, who is the house majority leader, had kindly, generously offered to let me use his office just off the floor because i was one of the floor leaders and i was going to have family with me, and also not just being overwhelmed by my colleagues, but everybody wanted to hug and so on. so anyway he gave me the office so i can have a little space. i drove down with my cheap of staff and we were in my then new office in the rayburn building, but we went over to the capitol office right before 1:00. i think it was 12:30 when we got there -- then tabitha and hank were dropped off by her friend ryan and they made it up the stairs. so i was getting ready, i showed them the speech i had written. i had been leaning very heavily on abraham lincoln's address where he denounced mob violence, interestingly, and racial violence, and he also said that this union and dissolution, if it were to come to america, it would not be from abroad, it would be from within, and the threats to our unity and stability came from inside the country, not

sunday night in the hoyer we came across this large group of 200 migrants who turned themselves in to border patrol, many were visibly coughing, covid 19 cases surge among the migrant population in the rio grande valley, 900% increase just in the month of july. in downtown mcallen today we watched as border patrol released illegal immigrants from the custody in masks. border patrol dropped migrants at a local catholic charity every 30 minutes. we watched over and over is busloads of migrants were emptied out and released into charity, several hundred until, staff members for catholic charities of the rio grande valley walked them across the street to mcallen central station where they were given bus tickets to travel elsewhere across the country. fox news has learned the second local hotel where the charity is housing, positive migrants this time where city officials say they really found out the charity has been quietly housing migrants at this texas in without being told by the charity. i reached out to the executive director of that catholic charity and asked how many cover the cos

meeting behind closed doors with speaker pelosi, while clyburn uses words like cooperation and steny hoyer said expect positive news, at the same time, there's no finalized deal, at least not yet. the stunning thing about this is that nine moderates that added a tenth to ranks yesterday, stephanie murphy from florida, they're making demands to see the bipartisan infrastructure bill that passed the senate before the house contends with the budget resolution for the larger $3.5 trillion bill. these demands aren't new. the reality on the ground is that leadership here didn't actually start negotiating with this group of moderates until last night, which has pushed the process far back in the timeline, further back than they thought they wanted it to go. the goal is to vote on the rule sometime today and finish up their business ideally by tonight. at the same time, they're up against a clock of their own making. if this thing continues to stretch on, that could be the reality. it is also not the only thing happening on the hill. lawmakers in d.c. are going to have a bipartisan in person class
