jen ed are these classes everybody takes. there is roughly about a third of the college experience for the typical students. that is your intro to english, intro to get a well-rounded education. over many, many decades they have accrued in such a way a lot of these classes in the way of content but we look at the book at some survey data where they ask incoming freshman basic questions about knowledge and critical thinking. two years later after the end of their sophomore they asked the same questions there's basically no difference on the amount of materials they learn paid no improvement at critical thinking skills. these are all from the years they spend in college taking the jen and classes. so he asked the question why are remaking students take multiple into tens of thousands of dollars taking mandatory classes for getting a degree and they aren't not learning much in those classes. they have figured a way to lobby the curriculum to make their classes mandatory what is that mean? you can hire more faculty, the english d

they do all say, as jen psaki said and mr. biden and others, they don't trust the taliban. they will wait and see with the taliban as. in terms of the tactical arrangement, military generals have said they have seen results from i and they believed, for instance, the taliban had blocked potential attacks earlier. they say medications are getting better with the repetition of saying what it is they want and need in terms of security and what threats they are looking at, the cooperation has improved. what does that mean for the future? state department officials say the u.s. is considering the future with a future diplomatic presence in kabul. no formal decision has been announced. that will come in the coming days. jen psaki was quite clear there is no rush to recognize the taliban diplomatically, either by the united states or its allies, that the interaction with the taliban right now is tactical and at a pragmatic level. nancy: jen psaki did reiterate that intention that president biden had set out about hunting down terrorists and making them pay. what does that look lik

but jake sullivan and jen psaki were both asked multiple times about the deadline. right now, the deadline for the americans to leave afghanistan is august 31, and so the question repeatedly was, do you commit to staying a little bit longer if you don't manage to get all of these thousands of americans and afghan allies out of afghanistan by then? asked multiple times, neither jen psaki nor jake sullivan would make a full on commitment, saying that right now they were focused on getting people out to the august 31 deadline. jen psaki also said there were at least 11,000 american citizens that have been self identified to u.s. authorities who are currently still in afghanistan. so you see this is going to be a huge process in the coming weeks. earlier, the pentagon saying they are hoping to have at least between 5000 and 9000 people getting out of afghanistan every day in the coming days and weeks. anchor: caroline, thank you for bringing us up-to-date in washington on the situation. the first french flight out of kabul landed in paris early this evening. on board, 4
