he was a fine marine. he was sent on his first deployment to jordan earlier this year end then received orders to afghanistan. jared schmitz, lance corporal schmitz was there on august 26, they are at the kabul airport doing his duty, serving his country, smiling nonstop when the enemy attacked. and it was there, lance corporal schmitz, age 20 gave his life for the people he loved for the nation he served. he died that others might live. i had the privilege of speaking to lance corporal schmitz is a family just hours after he learned of jared's death. i said this to them, i promise i would say it for the whole nation that jared's mission lived a life of honor but he lived a life worth living and his sacrifice was not in vain. he did not have to serve. he did not have to deploy halfway around the world. he did not have to stand protecting americans and other innocent people as disaster unfolded it. he did not have to do any of it. he chose to do it. hehe chose to serve. he chose to give his life for others.

, once the smoke is in the marine layer, it's also trapped by the layer of warm air, by the inversion, that can fluctuate. this week we've had an area of relatively low pressure overhead which means less atmosphere pressing down on top of this, the marine layer was able to expanded 4500 feet deep and the smoke things out, but what will happen as we had through the next few days is that high-pressure will take over and compress the marine layer and try to concentrate smoke at ground level, and it will be hot inland. hot and somewhat smoky, fortunately the air quality isn't going to be dreadful, it won't be as bad as air quality levels that we had last year or a few weeks ago. the smoke is still going to be trapped in place for as long as that area of high pressure overhead which will be through the labor day weekend. after that the onshore breeze will kick in from the southwest, and help to push the smoke and the area of high pressure farther away from the bay area. air quality will improve down the line, is not likely to happen, the good news is while the hayes is there, it's not grea
