i'm in rohnert park. neighbors tell us around 9:00 last night there was a stre struck by lightning that sounded like an explosion. a fragment of the tree landing on top of this suv. you can see some of the flag mnss of the tree surrounding it. pg&e did have to cut power to the cul-de-sac until some of that debris could be removed. a crew inspected that power pole that was close to that damaged tree. no one was inside of the truck when that happened. we do have some more of that lightning video we were talking about. this was from sonoma. fire crews confirmed multiple lightning strikes within sonoma county with the national weather service, confirming there were eight clouds to ground strikes that occurred before 9:00 in the county. one strike was within that september 2020 glass fire burn area here near santa rosa. we have video of what's called the rock fire. now this was a brush fire that started in mendocino county. we have learned that this fire has been knocked down. at one point it was about 40 acre

well, there's yeah rohnert park and kind of see that area by santa rosa. now i suspect. most of this is not hitting the ground because the atmosphere is so dry. but those yellows imagine are distributing some drops out there. let's put this in the loop on this real quick and you'll see the motion of it kind of coming from the west to the east. so here goes one more time. so there's those showers of trans petaluma that is to be expected really throughout the evening hours, and then again later on tonight is when the dynamics the strongest dynamic skid here, which would indicate the chance of a thunderstorm. we have some activity down around gilroy and hollister. i haven't seen um, showers yet from the, uh, reports many showers. but all of that activity is going to work its way north so that's in the next few hours. san jose eastern livermore, you might get a few scattered showers kind of like petaluma did. but again, the dynamics that thunderstorm concern is more after midnight 11 to 11 to 1 a.m. in the morning and mainly in the north bay. you worry about these right beca

we've already seen rain on the ground in petaluma and rohnert park. the dynamics are available. especially in the north bay for late tonight, a thunderstorm or something of that nature and again because it's so dry 10 years ago, this would have happened. it would have been, man. you know, it wouldn't have been this. it wouldn't require this response. but because of the fire situation because of the droughts, here we go. um and that red flag warning is up. it's up till tomorrow morning. the story is with this high brought into some tropical moisture. that low is the trigger one of the trigger that would get us to thunderstorms. right now. the trigger is not there. the trigger's getting there. the voice. this year is creating showers, but when that trigger gets there, that's tonight at around midnight. that's when the opportunity for a scattered thunder shower will occur, and so they can kind of see it more clearly, here's the subtropical moisture. here's the trigger. if you will, or the engine of this weather system, the tropical moisture is more than fuel. so this is the model.
