christina greer from fordham university. also author of the black ethnics and another christina. beltran. an associate professor at nyu and author of cruelty as citizenship. ladies, very happy to have you with me. christina beltran, i'll start with you. you know, i look at what's happening in society and when you break down this data, women of color who were democrats are mostly dissatisfied yet white republican women were fine with the status quo, which i find interesting because white republican women will also have an adverse impact by some of these policies that will impact their life in a negative way as well. why do you think that divide exists? >> well, i think it's really telling and useful that you showed the handmaid's tale because one of the aspect of that story is that things like white supremacy and pate arky is strong and they can suck the victims into its own belief system. the fact there are 44% of women who seem satisfied at this moment i think speaks to the fact that they have to some extent, bought into the logics of the circumstances being the way they are and

christina coleman live in los angeles with more on that. >> reporter: hi, jon. a big clean-up recovery effort is underway to keep this oil from further polluting the water. more than 3,000 barrels of oil leaked into the ocean just off of huntington beach south of l.a., and we just learned more than 2,000 feet of protective boom has been deployed at seven nearby wetland locations to protect the wildlife. the oil still runs from huntington beach pier down to newport beach. it was discovered yesterday. city officials say this has forced them to stop activity in the ocean and along the shoreline in that area, and as you mentioned, they also canceled the last day for the iconic annual pacific air show that normally draws thousands of people to the beach. the mayor says they're focused on two priorities right now. >> first, protecting the health and safety of our residents and visitors. and second, preventing an ecological disaster by mitigating the impacts of the oil on our precious wetlands and wildlife. >> reporter: authorities say the oil leaked from a broken pipe
