we have team coverage of the storm moving from the north bay to the south bay. let's start with meteorologist. what are reseeing the intensity moving to the south bay? >> the real issue with the video is the storm that just hit the brakes across the north bay. and storm ranger radar from giving the high definition view of the most intense rain band. over to na ta county and now moving down the peninsula. obviously some of that is spilling over to the stadium. one two punch of winds and rain. heavy rain half-moon bay. downtown san francisco. these are rain rates of about a half inch per hour. so that's enough to cause spot flooding. you add all this up. it's been going on since sunrise. still in the north bay you can see the moderate to heavy rain pushing to the out. estimated rainfall so far with this particular storm. the dark red. average of four to six inches of rain. we past ds half way point of storm. flash flood warnings up. for another 30 minutes or so. redwood creek. also out towards millic creek. and ma rin county. through 5:00. flash flood watches up.

north bay highs reaching up to 78 degrees in sonoma and ukiah. still pretty comfortable. looking ahead, we are going to see a lot of dry weather, but once again, our temperature still changing. going into next week, we watch a storm system approving, a couple of waves of rain reaching into far northern california and weakening as it gets here. we will have a nice cooldown. in santa rosa we're mild today. we see temperatures up to the mid 80s for friday into saturday and back down for sunday. look at temperatures as we go into much of the rest of next week. we're looking at still a spike in temperatures, but it doesn't last that long. we're going to see highs in the 80s for the inland valleys for tomorrow and saturday and then the big cooldown on sunday, continuing to feel like fall for much of the rest of next week. san francisco going briefly to the 70s today and back to the 60s for the rest of the weekend into early next week. mike, you're seeing changes with that crash. >> i am. the good news for contra costa county is the wind advisories are across the bridge. the bad

the north bay. it is all evaporating before it hits the ground. let's track the system, we stay dry through the night. showers are going to run into the north bay already by midday tomorrow. could be by midmorning, it will be light rain. not associated with that atmospheric river. this is the preview of coming attractions. showers possible anywhere across the bay area on saturday. they are going to be intermittent and light? keep the umbrella handy and flexible with the outdoor plans, not a wash out. best chance of showers will be the northern half of the bay area and showers continuing into saturday evening. it is late saturday night into the presunrise hour of sunday morning that the first wave of heavy rain moves in. this point, the bulk of the moisture aimed at the northern california coast. then, aimed in the north bay as we head farther into sunday morning. first half of the day, dry areas for the southern half of the bay area. it will be a soaking rain for the north bay through the first half

north bay. we are also looking at flooding concerns around santa rosa, sonoma county, the hills there, through vacaville, parts of 2 inches. heavier rain through southern rain over to the east bay. there are pockets of heavier rain. south san francisco approaching 2 inches in san francisco and oakland. it has been let in the south bay, but watch out tonight overnight for san jose. they will see heavy rain for the game and beyond. nevada, almost 1.5 inches. fairfield, 1.85. over 2 inches in oakland. danville closing in on an inch and a third. level 4 all day today. above 1000 feet, winds up to 15 miles -- 50 miles per hour. matt the ebukam almost 2 inches of rain since midnight for you, wind gusts from 20 to 50 miles per hour. this continues as the front slowly sing south and east. it will be 2:00, 3:00 when it finally begins to make inroads to the east bay and peninsula. the south bay, it will be later on, already looking at flooding in the lake tahoe basin. the debris flow chances high and the

by 4:00 this has shifted out of north bay, but we are still looking at heavy rain in the north bay. then by about 7:00 we have some downpours from livermore to san jose, and right on through 11:00 , hasn't let up yet in the livermore valley or around half moon bay. that is why we are looking at the santa cruz mountains to pick up perhaps six inches of rain. if you are downslope from those burn scar areas, you have a moderate to high risk of some of that debris flow and mudslides. you can see half moon bay, over four inches. 5.4 estimates in santa rosa. over four inches in livermore. and we have not even got going yet for the heavy rain there. as we look at the wind, it is going to be a gusty day throughout the midday hour. this is 1:00. we have winds over 40 miles an hour. that is when you have the saturated soil and the possibility of some tree limbs coming down, and the flooding on the roadways. we are already looking at that flooding in sonoma county. later tonight that area of low pressure generating high surf warnings, not only through monday but into tuesday, with breakers up

this time tomorrow, we will be hitting the north bay. it is dry. we will be looking at the system dropping to the south steadily throughout the day tomorrow. as we look at our storm impact scale, right now, level 1 with light rain showers mainly in the afternoon or evening. as we look at our current numbers, we are in the mid-50's in marinda and hayward. 49 in pacifica. it is a chilly start out there, anywhere from four to 11 degrees cooler than we were yesterday at this time. here is a look at yesterday this morning. we are looking at showers along the coastal hears and northbay. -- coastal hills and northbay. today is a good day to get out there and secure those loose objects, trim some trees and clean out the gutters. by midnight, we are looking at rain getting heavier along the coast. this is when we bring in our level 3 system. today, we are looking at the mid to upper 50's with showers on and off at times, only in the 60's throughout the afternoon. we will track the rest of sunday into monday where we are looking at localized flooding. liz: p

not as windy for the north bay. we are up to 70 degrees after staying in the 50s in ukiah yesterday. we are watching the reservoir levels rise. let me show you the numbers and what it looked like before all of the rain we had for east bay mud. it was at 67% capacity, but we were doing bad in the south bay. only 18% of the capacity, and guadalupe at 18%. we have seen a rise in the reservoir levels, and the most in the north bay with all of the rain, and it was 17% and now at half capacity. in the north bay, it's better than what we were seeing. it does look like we will take a break from the rain for the next several days, and then next week we will see another chance of a pretty good amount of rain moving in starting on monday. as we go into the out look for the next two weeks, some of the highest chances of getting more measurable rain will be across northern california. that's looking pretty good. we will be watching that on monday. we have a chance to let all of the water soak in, and, boy, was it a lot. we will

we had over 16.5 inches of rain up in the north bay. things are certainly settling down there in the north bay. conditions, as you said, are still going to be a little bit dicey. i can tell you with four inches in oakland and over 5.5 inches around ben loman, we are certainly looking at a day when things are certainly going to be remembered. here is my mouse. let me just show you this. three inches over in palo alto. about eight in santa rosa. lake tahoe, we are talking about a heavy, wet snow with changeover from snowing around the airport terrain. we are talking the worst weather of the next several hours with two or three inches per hour. we also have a high surf warning, up to 30 feet. a lot going on along the coast. wind up to 40 miles per hour in the upper elevations. around mount hood, 35 miles per hour. it is chilly, we are behind the system here in san francisco. a little bit more rain to go, and even some sunshine, maybe some rainbows out there today. >> is he on the roads as well with standing water and flooding all around th

that is heavy rain over the north bay already. the bulk of the river will be aimed at northern california at that point, but like a fire hose being drifted down the coast, it will move farther and farther down into the bay area as we head through sunday. heaviest rain comes in sunday afternoon. mid to late afternoon, it will rain heavily across the entire bay area, and continues into the early overnight hours on sunday. that makes its way steadily to the south as we head into monday morning, but still lingering off and on showers in the forecast for monday as well. how much are we talking about? let's added up. this is commuter model data, but it agrees well with what the weather addiction center has been saying. over 1.25 inches for san jose, which could approach 2 inches by the time all is said and done him about widespread amounts of 3 to 5 inches of rain in the santa cruz mountains. we are talking about 4 to 8 inches of rain for the north bay. that is why we have the flash flood watch in effect for the north bay and santa cruz
