i'm raj mathai. >> and i'm janelle wang. let's start with a live look around the bay area. we are getting a break from the rain after it pounded our region overnight and this morning. the overnight storm flooded roads and made for a tricky morning commute. but all of that has now moved on and out of the way. we are now waiting for the next storm. our chief meteorologist jeff ranieri is tracking it all for us. you've been warning us all week about the big one this weekend. >> you've got that right and my eyes are firmly fixed on this storm system out in the pacific. right now we are in that break, but the atmospheric river right here is now beginning to develop and eventually that's going to point right at the bay area and that's where we'll get in on some of those high rainfall totals. the zone we're looking at is sunday into monday morning. not only the heavy rainfall, but also wind. 20 to 45 miles per hour as we move through sunday afternoon, so it's going to be wet and windy with that focus again on sunday's forecast. let's go ahead and give you a preview of how things w

i'm raj mathai. a lot happening on this friday. the umpire explains his not so accurate call. the ump, by the way, grew up in the south bay. his response to that giants game last night in just a few minutes. >>> but we start with three breaking news stories. at this hour, evacuations for some people in the santa cruz county area. a wildfire is burning across mount madonna between morgan hill and watsonville. you might be seeing some of the smoke in the south bay right now. so far, this fire has burned at least 120 acres. you can see down below just the intense flames, those orange flames. the fire retardant drops and of course the smoke. here's what we know. at least 120 acres burned. the fire started at a prescribed burn but somehow jumped out of control. an evacuation center has been set up. we've been getting reports you can see that smoke from a widespread region. the concern, of course, is the wind direction and the rate of spread. we're going to be getting an update from cal fire, we hope, within the next 30 minutes. we'll also get some answers from our own meteorologist

. >> i'm raj mathai. >>> we are following breaking news at this hour. a federal judge has temporarily blocked the new abortion rules in texas. that law in texas is the strictest in the country, prohibiting women from getting an abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. the biden administration has challenged its constitutionality after the supreme court allowed that law in texas to go into effect, but right now federal judge has blocked it. tonight's ruling prevents texas from enforcing the law while the case goes through the court. >>> the other top the
