that's something they wanted in this bill and they got in this bill. another bill that is still being argued about, what president biden called build back better, what carmakers want in that is money for incentives for people buying electric vehicles. that has become a major political hot potato as to how to do that. there are currently incentives, but they run out and start to phase out after you sell 200,000 electric vehicles. gm and tesla do not get incentives. their customers get a bit of a damage there. this bill would continue with that, but also expand with extras for american-made ev's and union made ev's. some of the electric tart -- electric start ups, like tesla, don't like that. so do other companies that are foreign that are making deals in the u.s. that are not union built -- they don't like that. the extra incentive, there is a big debate on that in washington. it is still in the current bill, but we don't know for sure if it will last. host: a snapshot of the u.s. electric vehicle market in the united states. here's were sales were in t

this bill is a transformational bill. it's a bill made up by people who think america's fundamentally broken and we have to make big changes. that's what we are going to get. i'll focus on five areas. one, illegal immigration. under this bill we are adding no new border patrol agents, but we are making it more difficult to deport people who committed serious crimes here. we are using an additional care to get people here and giving away free college to match the free health care we are already giving. one way this bill will transform america is you get a lot more legal immigrants and since yesterday for the first time we topped 100,000 illegal drug deaths in this country. i think this bill assure that numbers continues to go up. secondly, i always felt the biggest problem in america right now is an out-of-control welfare system that destroys families. that system becomes more generous in this bill. be it much more low-income housing or earned income tax credit provision that increases the mairn penalty. or pell grants. in

the headlines about that bill are great. particularly about the local impact it's expected to have in states and communities around the country. also the reason i'm guessing the speaker's office started circulating front page snapshots like this today is because as good as the news is about the infrastructure bill for all these states around the country, it's bad news for members of congress from those states who voted against it. i will show you what i mean. south dakota, front page headline, state gets $2.8 billion from infrastructure bill. that's a huge amount of money coming to south dakota for roads and bridges and broadband to rural areas. also, repairs to airports. new school buses, drinking water systems, making the electric grid better. $2.8 billion coming to south dakota alone. what's the subheadline under that? right there on the front page, senators oppose it. both thune and rounds voted no against the infrastructure bill. south dakota has so few people in it, it has one member of the house. that's dusty johnson.

this was billed as a bipartisan infrastructure bill. up until recently when you say infrastructure most americans think bridges, roads, the things that you see during and they agree for the need to use tax dollars to replace these things and maintain them. but this bill brings in a whole new definition of what infrastructure is. joe biden on the campaign trail talked about redefining infrastructure to include human infrastructure. that basically opens the doors to all kinds of spending, which this bill does in part. it includes, for instance, $50 billion for climate change and drought mitigation. it includes another $65 billion for internet connections. if you start going through the hundreds of pages i'm sure you're going to find a lot of things that are eyebrow-racing. host: when you look at it differently if it had only stuck specifically to this idea of road and bridge spending? or was that off the table too? guest: no. you know what? we need to spend to maintain our roads and bridges. that is an expense that most americans are on b

so much for looking out for the little guy in this bill. this is a huge part of the bill. in fact, this is the most expensive provision in the bill, and that's up against all the other spending that the democrats want to do on new government programs and expanding government, the biggest expansion of government in decades. but included now in the bill, not only is that massive extension of spending on lots of crazy new ideas and trillions of dollars in new taxes that will be imposed upon the economy, but now there is a provision in there that will cut taxes, 80% of that benefit going to people making more than $200,000 a year, and cut taxes on a scale that makes this the largest, most expensive provision in the entire reckless tax-and-spending spree bill. that's what we're talking about with this particular provision, mr. president. so i just want to point that out because this is an evolving bill. we're seeing new language every day, new ideas every day, and some really horrible ideas that have come out in the last few weeks, some of which have gone away simply because th
