christine and paula? >> all right, jeff, thank you. >>> a winter run of covid just as most of the emergency covid relief has run out. and some programs have expired. nearly $5.7 trillion in government rescue since the start of the pandemic to cushion the economic blow. member stimulus ppp, bailouts, most of that money, 86%, has been obligated or spent. all of that might have been enough if everyone had been vaccinated on schedule. of course that's not what happened. now we're faced with the omicron variant spreading like wildfire, wreaking havoc again on small business. >> i think omicron is already doing significant damage to the economy. you can see it in spending, on credit cards through travel and restaurants. gdp growth before delta, you know, expectations, including my own, were for a very strong quarter, 5, 6% growth. it ended up being about 2. so delta did a lot of damage to the economy back in the summer. and i think at this point i think we can at least expect omicron to do as much damage. >> so

>> not all that much, paula. i would say i would compare this to the uk measures that they're putting in, which i think are exemplary, where basically they're requiring the same test the day before, but then they're requiring you to stay in your hotel or home where you're going until you have a test on day three. and possibly day five, depending on your vaccination status. if you're unvaccinated, you may have to stay in quarantine an entire ten days. for the united states to only request one day what happens if you caught the disease two, three days before? you may not be positive yet, and yet another day or two later you may be fully shedding and spreading it. so one-day testing is not enough to stop a traveler from catching covid. >> you have tests upon arrival and then until that comes back negative, you think people should be isolating at least? >> absolutely. i think the uk policy is very solid. i think a test at day three minimum is what the united states should be asking for. and depending on where people

>> yeah, paula. it seems like a complete breakdown in communication between police officers and this prosecutor's office. the fact that she would go forward with a press conference and announce these charges without the police securing the whereabouts of these two individuals is shocking and quite frankly really, you know, a sign of, you know, poor handling of this entire case by the prosecutor and the police. the police have been on tv saying they didn't know that the prosecutor was going to announce these charges. but the fact that these two individuals were not taken into custody immediately, that the police did not know their whereabouts, and that, you know, at a certain point during this evening, they still didn't know their whereabouts is quite troubling and i think retraumatizing for this entire community. >> and areva, i'm so glad you mentioned that because that was my first thought, the anguish that these families must continually go through hour after hour. areva martin for us, thank you so

paula, thank you so much. it's amazing the detail paula has about these documents. if you are willing to hand those over without privilege, why won't you talk about them? gloria borger is our chief political analyst. norm eisen is former counsel to house democrats during the first trump impeachment trial. so, norm, okay. there is this fundamental issue that i just don't comprehend, right? which is how one can hand over a document and say fine and then say i won't answer questions about it, that's executive privilege. there is also, of course, they could ask about all sorts of other things. and he gave 6,000 pages. maybe, there were 24,000 in total, right? we have no idea what he cherry picked here. does he have any grounds, legally, in this lawsuit? >> um, erin, thanks for having me back. he does not have adequate grounds in this lawsuit to fail to appear before the committee. he's essentially re-litigating the executive privilege claims that donald trump put in his civil lawsuit that failed at the trial court level and the appellate court, clearly, very skeptical o

how important is this decision, paula? >> this is an incredibly important decision for the committee. trump has argued as a former president he has the ability to keep secret some of his white house records. now the lower court and court of appeals have both held, no, executive privilege is held by the current president, not a former one. and in this case of course president biden has said, look, this is not what executive privilege is meant to protect. these were extraordinary circumstances on january 6th. he's not asserted privilege because he believes lawmakers should have access to these records. also in this decision, don, not only more bad news for trump but also mark meadows. because once again in this court of appeals they have affirmed indeed this committee has a legitimate purpose in conducting this investigation. both trump and mark meadows in his recent lawsuit have argued they don't have a legitimate legislative purpose in pursuing the investigation into january 6th that was once again today projected. >> this
