kimberly, i have so many questions for you, but the first one is on one hand historic and huge that if biden gets his way a black woman would be a supreme court justice. on the other hand it doesn't change the math of the supreme court and what we've seen is the math seems to trump all other things. >> yes, you're absolutely right on both fronts. it will be an historic and important, but the court will still be 6-3 tilted toward the conservative side, but that doesn't mean that it won't make a difference. the very experience and lived experience that a new justice will bring in itself will bring a different perspective and the same way that it brought a different perspective to have someone who grew up in a housing project in justice sotomayor, or someone who was born in the south like justice thomas. this will bring a different perspective to the court at this time it's hugely important. as you point out, the reason that we have not had black women throughout the federal judiciary or most courts is the lack of opportunity. it's systemic discrimination. when i went to law school my inc

do you think that's what we'll see here, kimberly? >> i think that is. what we'll see here i think democrats are motivated to move as quickly as the barrett nomination. i think given the fact that democrats can advance and pass and confirm this nomination without a single republican vote at this point in time, it doesn't make a lot of sense to drag out the process, certainly give it the time to consider the candidate thoroughly. but i don't see anything standing in the way and i do agree that the longer everything that happens in washington at this point, the longer it takes, the more politicized and divisive it comes. >> a big thanks to all of you. carol, don't go far. i think we're going to come back to you in just a few minutes for some other reporting. thank you all, ladies. >>> meanwhile, just hours before today's hearing in the federal trial of the three men who killed ahmaud arbery, two of the men have made plea deals according to federal prosecutors, but the details of those deals have not been released just yet. we are watching this morning's he

that's a good question. >> bret: kimberly? >> kimberly: i think from vladimir putin's perspective, he went and he figures one of two things. either he uses this threat to invade ukraine as leverage to get some sort of concessions from the united states or he says that he doesn't get those concessions and then he uses it as a pretext to invade. and he is betting that the biden administration, which has a lot of leftovers from the obama years, remember in 2014, barack obama put out a threat "don't go into crimea." putin did it anyway there was no real ramifications. so he is assuming he has a free hand here. which is why there can't be any carrots. if the biden administration wants to pass this it has to crack down and pressure germany to suspend that pipeline. it's got to do the full array of sanctions and it's got to speed up military assistance not just to ukraine but to other former satellite nations of the soviet union who don't want to fall under russia's orbit. >> bret: guy, we covered this story of kazakhstan, what's hap
