let's check in with meteorologist vianey arana for a look at our microclimate forecast. fortunately, those winds are dying down or have died down. >> yeah, we had a significant offshore wind event, but advisories have expired as of now. but i am going to show you guys some of the high wind gusts that we saw. it looks like my picture looks a little blownout, but this is a shot of san francisco currently. we're in the 30s and 40s. santa rosa 34 degrees, temps in the 30s for palo alto, and san martin 32 degrees. we're starting out really cold, because it is, of course, really clear out there. no clouds in sight right now. and i do want to show you the hour by hour outlook. this gives you an idea of what to expect. even though it's not going to be as windy or gusty as what we saw yesterday and friday, it is still going to be breezy for some of the hills mainly above 2,000 feet and it's going to be chilly in the valleys. by about 9:30 we start to bump up into the 40s and 50s, and then eventually around 12:00, mostly sunny conditions remain and we start to see some of the 60s

it's keeping meteorologist vianey arana busy this morning as she's tracking conditions throughout the bay area. foggy start, don't need to ask you how it's looking. >> let's start you out with a look at how it shapes out when it comes to visibility in miles. if you're heading out to work, this is what you're going to encounter. in the south bay, a quarter of a mile in san jose, even less than that, there's some parts of the north bay. look at novato, san francisco down to about 2 miles, parts of hayward and oakland starting to see fog push through. not only is it foggy, it's also very cold. our temperatures are starting out in the 30s in dublin, 34 degrees. let's check in with mike because he has an update on some breaking news. >> yeah, in south bay, northbound 85 is shut down in cupertino. that is a tough issue for folks who are just hitting the road. north 85 just shy of de enza, the off ramp is closed. take saratoga toward lawrence or 285 if you can, past the scene, joining up with 85 north of there. i'll give tu rest of the details coming up. back to you. >>> signs of progress in

look at that behind vianey arana. that's in san josÉ? >> yeah, the fog is so dense you can't even see downtown san josÉ. this is a live look right now. it's about 45 degrees, so temperatures are mild but the fog is so dense, not even just for san josÉ but really parts of the south bay down through morgan hill. look at the fog and visibility, and really dense through morgan hill, parts of concord and napa and down to quarter of a mile in oakland as well, and in through the brentwood area, we will keep that fog for the first half of the morning. our temperatures are going to be similar to what you saw yesterday where we sort of started out in the 40s and then bumped up in the 50s and topped out in the low 60s. i will take you through your 7-day forecast outlook. >>> the united states is now seeing more than 1 million new covid cases per day, and it's more than 63 million confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic. california has about 10% of that total with a positive test rate currently over 20%. ucsf is asking everybody to avoid i

let's check in now with meteorologist vianey arana for a quick look at our vas. >> good morning, we'll start dry and we'll keep a dry weather all weekend long and a beautiful shot of san francisco, not a lot of shot, we are seeing fog in other areas, a live look right now in san jose, it's about 41 degrees. downtown san jose also looking really nice, we'll look at the fog and a few parts of the northeast. notice santa rosa is down about a quarter of a mile up to napa and down to 5 miles visibility and less than that into tracy. that dense fog will linger into 7:00 a.m. for the first after of hour day, by the afternoon, san jose, 41 degrees right now and by about 8:00 or 9:00, we'll still be in the 40s, notice in the icons between 10:00 and 11:00, it will be a mix of sun and clouds. it will be cloudy but we'll get a lot of sunshine heading into the afternoon. temperatures topping out into low to mid-60s today. we'll start to bump up in the 50s and eventually topping out in those mid-60s with more pleasant weather ahead heading into sunday's forecast coming up. >> coming up at 7:00 on to
