this is a big deal for barbara lee. here's some of her thoughts. well first, i don't have a name in mind, but to me it's so exciting because it should be really exciting for the country. because all this all these years i've never had the brilliant and the lens of a black woman on the supreme court . a shame on us. i mean, can you imagine? what we've lost without having a black woman there. and so i commend the president. the nominees and the names that i've heard all have the judicial temperament. they have the background they have to experience. and they have what it takes to be a supreme court judge, and so i'm just really excited about it. i'm sorry that the right wing is trying to continue to diminish who we are as black women by throwing out a bunch of #### but you know, as dr maya angelou said, it's still we rise. and so i'm very excited about this day, but i hope the country is. and speaking of maya angelou. just a footnote recently, barbara lee helped get through legislation through congress to create new quarters . so starting this week f

jordan -- barbara lee. i yield back to her. all good names, i yield back. ms. lee: thank you so much for your reminding us of her history here in the capitol as the member of the ag. and i worked with the late ron and i got a chance to beat with congresswoman chisholm and barbara jordan i got to know her and her stately and her demeanor and i remember very clearly that representative chisholm was on the rules committee and the only second woman to be appointed to the rules committee. i have to go back to 1789 and i want the public to understand what took place. the second woman on the rules committee since 1789 and i believe and she may have been the first member of the c.b.c. on the rules committee and just in her history, she was an orange board member, first honorary co-president in 1969 of the national abortion rights league and she was a fierce for women's reproductive rights and only one of 16 black woman who led a movement for reproductive moments with the brochure "we remember." and that was in 1989
