do you anticipate changes in laws in new york city and new york state? guest: i think it is too early to say. one of the things we are starting to learn is that the mayor in new york only has so much power at the end of the day. a lot of these policies are enacted at the state level and we haven't seen albany signal willingness to budge or reconsider these reforms. we have bail reform, discovery reform, all of these things systematically lower the transaction costs of criminal conduct, making it less likely you will be arrested, less likely that if you are arrested, your case will be prosecuted within progressive prosecutors like eric gonzales and alvin bragg in manhattan. we have had juvenile cases diverted into family court at higher rates, aching prison sanctions less likely in those cases. all of that matters, but eric adams is putting pressure on the governor and democrats in albany. so far, they don't seem willing to budge on these issues. then you have prosecutors at the local level who are somewhat at odds with adams' mission. alvin bragg being t
