you've seen tim scott talk about it, you've seen lindsey graham raise the prospect of it being a bipartisan vote. i think that's caused some consternation in the white house in that it's kind of looked like republicans are holding up this one candidate as a possibility to avoid. that they're moving beyond the incredibly tough and ugly fights that have happened over the supreme court over the last few nominees, and i think they at least want to avoid very much so what happened when trump -- donald trump appointed amy coney barrett, and we heard a lot from the democratic side of the senators because that appointment happened so fast that they weren't reached out to, they weren't consulted. so it sort of -- the white house sees this as a way to restore some of the comedy we've seen in the senate. but at the very least it's a way to see the republicans are clued in on the process. they're obviously wary how many republicans might actually come up and vote for the eventual nominee. but it's basically good politics, and it's a way to clue them in without really raising expectations publicly that

scott. of course, both republicans from south carolina, which is another interesting kind of political dynamic or twist in childs eventual case or potential nomination. clyburn has been discussing the merit of childs as a nominee. he told me he hasn't asked those two whether or not they will vote to confirm her, but since the conversation and since the news came out, both senators said favorable things about childs. senator graham said he couldn't think of a better person to be considered to serve on the supreme court. you know well that bipartisanship is rare, and it is incredibly rare for republicans to say something positive about anything president biden puts forward personnel wise or policy wise. so this suggests that someone like childs could have bipartisan support and maybe even get more than 50 votes needed to be confirmed. >> certainly bipartisanship rare indeed, despite the president's hopes. the gop has largely said no. one more here, give us a 30,000 foot take about the politics

so people will stop asking, you know, i am not running against tim scott in 2022. i just think that that's a mission that is foolish and no i'm not running against entering mcmaster for governor in 2022. i think we're gonna have two amazing candidates who try joe cunningham and mia butler having run against henry mcmaster. he is one of the more um, boring candidates to run against which makes them extremely effective. he doesn't make mistakes on the campaign trail. he doesn't engage you he raises money and he you know, when a candidate doesn't make mistakes. it's like a team, you know, three yards in a cloud of dust if you playing football. it's just kind of fascinating to watch and so i don't see i don't see victories in either one of those races right now, but you know, i would have never thought we were going to win, georgia and arizona in 2020, so i'm confident and comfortable and waiting for jim clyburn. retire whenever that is, but you know how many people are as they say joe riley, you know this, you know, how many people in a cemetery who were waiting on st
