i'm ali velshi live from warsaw, poland. the president is here. president biden as i said meeting with the polish president, andrzej duda, ironically where they're meeting next door to the building i'm in, is the same place the warsaw pact was sign in 1955, as a bull work against nato. today's meeting comes on the final day of this urgent and vital trip meant to strengthen the coalition against russia, which has already included emergency meetings of nato, the g7, the european council. in a couple of hours, at the poland royal castle biden is going to deliver a major address, speaking to, quote, the stakes of the moment, the urgency of the challenges that lie ahead. what the conflict with ukraine means for the world and why it's important the free world sustain unity and resolve in the face of aggression by russia, end quote. within the next hour or so, he's running a little late, biden will meet with refugees at the pge national stadium here in warsaw. he'll be accompaied by poland's prime minister and the mayor of warsaw. this was a day after me

i'm andrea mitchell live in warsaw, poland. several big developments on a very windy morning in poland. president biden is meeting with ukraine's top officials, defense minister and foreign policy minister with defense secretary austin and secretary of state antony blink. this could be a major shift of policy in moscow. a top general saying their goals are only to retake the eastern part of ukraine and donbas, largely controlled since 2014 by russia, instead of taking the whole country and toppling the government. so more on that in just a moment. and here in warsaw, the president is set to meet with poland's president duda before meeting for the first time with refugees, something he's really wanted to do and aid workers, many coming from the u.s. and later he'll give what the white house is calling a major speech in an address with poland as poland struggles to accommodate more than 2 million people who have come as refugees from ukraine. a senior white house correspondent kelly o'donnell is with me here in poland and corresp

that is like 15% of my population in warsaw. of course we are dealing with it, solidarity of the people has been immense and work done by the volunteers and services of my city is exemplary and we are helping as much as we can. we are at capacity and if there is escalation in ukraine, we have to deal with second wave of refugees issue the situation will become very, very difficult. that is why we need a relocation system where we all in europe and elsewhere, we share the burden. ukrainians are fighting for freedom and we need to step up and do our bid. >> todd: how many more refugees will you take in? >> as many as we have to, we declared we are going to help everyone. if you come to warsaw, you will see there are no refugees on the streets, they are at people's homes because people in poland and warsaw are extraordinary and accept ukrainians into their homes. the city services are very much stretched, all my social workers working with ukrainians, we have created centers and my psychologists work with ukrainians, we have grante

let us go live to warsaw, the presidential palace. the reason we are showing you that is because there are some very serious and important talks that will be taking place today, saturday, between us presidentjoe biden and the polish leader, his counterpart, and also significantly, also meeting some other ukrainian ministers, the foreign minister will be there as well as the defence minister. some pretty significant officials travelling from ukraine to poland to be part of these talks with the us president, who has been in poland, this will be his second day. he visited troops on friday, some 50 miles from the ukrainian border, whilst he was there he said i don't want to sound philosophical, but you are in the midst of a fight between democracy and oligarch. you remember that in the build—up to the russian invasion president biden sent some 5000, five and a half thousand additional troops to that border to try and bolster nato troops. part of these talks today with the polish leader, what we are expecting to be on the schedule, there
