hugh: that's my concern. this is been a margin story and we came into this year with margins fairly resilient because corporate were able to deal with the high input costs simply by saying we have a strong consumer, therefore shift those high prices onto to our end customers. my concern is that if we look at the resilience of european customers, that is going to be challenged as a result of higher energy bills which is an inevitable consequence of the conflict in ukraine. how european corporate's are able to deal with those higher input costs is starting to fall more into question. tom: which corporate's still have that margin they can sustain? hugh: in the u.s. i think margins are more likely to be more resilient. you have a better insulated u.s. consumer. it is hard to see margins expanded anywhere given the high watermark we had coming into 2022, but i suspect u.s. corporate's will maintain more pricing power relative to europeans because they are that much more energy independent. they will not see the sa

and of course in the process, i met hugh and what i was impressed with was hugh's sincerity and his more importantly his determination not only to celebrate his great grandfather, but to present this story with a certain socially conscious perspective that helps us understand where our plastic world came from and perhaps where it's going. and so, along the way i learned more about hugh and perhaps some of the initiatives of the l. h. baekeland project that he started, and i worked closely with mark huberman, the projects medium engine and the two of them really inspired me to get to know who lhb was more profoundly and that became is what with this guy. and one thing i did was, as you folks have done, was read all his personal diaries. and boy, that did. that's, his diaries are just an amazing window into the, into the soul of a genius, really. and in them also is quite a picture of the revolutionary time that he lived in. so thanks to hugh we are currently developing ideas for some kind of literary expression of that. i don't know what that's going to be, but i'm just so excited, really
