bill barr has spoken publicly about this. he told trump at the time that his claims of mass voter fraud that could switch the result of the 2020 election, were b.s., although he used the full form of that word. his discussions with trump at the time and the pressure he may have faced is relevant to the january 6th committee. he has aimed discussions about the committee, according to peter nicholas. on to barry loudermilk. the january 6th committee sent him a letter making two allegations. the first is they have evidence that a number of people involved in the january 6th attack were trying to scope out the capitol grounds ahead of time to try to plan their attack. second, they've seen footage that barry loudermilk led a tour through parts of the capitol complex, on january 5th, the day before the attack. this contradicts prior claims by republicans, there was no tours, no large groups and no one with a maga hat on. they would like to meet with congressman loudermilk next week. the ranking member of the committee, put out an a

william barr has formally talked to the committee last fall. they want him to speak again, this time under oath. how likely is that? >> anderson, they have a tentative agreement for him to appear with the committee to do this interview under oath. so, we expect that this is actually going to happen. one of the interesting things with bill barr is he has spoken a little bit publicly doubting the committee and whether it's made too much of a big deal about january 6th. but obviously there's a lot of information the committee believes he has from the period before he left office. keep in mind he left office at the end -- just before the end of december. so, there's a lot of information he has from the period after the election that he can tell them about. >> the last time barr spoke with the community, conversation focused on interactions with president trump before and after the election. is that still the focus? >> that's right. he spoke about two hours with staffers, liz cheney, the republican who's the vice chair of the committee. and we belie

concerned about not having merrick garland look like he is willing to do for president biden what bill barr was not willing to do for donald trump. but we've got so much. we're way beyond the political considerations. at this point, equal justice under the law, accountability, all of the values of the united states department of justice i was proud to serve in way in favor of prosecuting donald trump. >> paul, i'm going follow up on this -- who are these institutionalists? who are these people who think -- seriously! who think that the institutions of our government are more important than holding people accountable who tried to tear those institutions down? i'm not just talking as a political scientist here. this is what regular people are asking. so paul, who are these institutionalists who have been so apprehensive thus far? >> the standard of the justice department is you don't bring a case unless you think you can win. no former president has ever been charged with a crime, so this would be a huge deal, and at this point, again, i think we're getting the kind of evidence that in any ot

william barr, the attorney general, said that there was no widespread fraud. all of the successors of the justice department who threatened to resign over this issue said there was no fraud. we know that secretary of state of georgia raffensperger told him there was no fraud. his own director of national intelligence told him there was no fraud. and more than 60 judges told him there's no fraud. in fact, the judge who suspended her law license of rudy giuliani, said in fact, there was not even a scintilla of evidence of fraud. they just made up. so in the face of that, at some point, you have to believe that donald trump knew there was no fraud. there is an instruction in the law the juries get willful blindness, and you can't avoid the high probability of the fact, just by pretending it doesn't exist. so i think some combination of those factors as likely would have caused him to change his view that there is not sufficient intent evidence. >> basically, you're saying that you can't just play dom and say, i didn't know despite the fact that almost everybody i
