the friends of herbert hoover big and small. who have come out to pay their final respects to this man who will be buried here within the hour. the beauty of this scene as one which is difficult to describe. the grass has passed the peak of its summer green. established upon the burial site here now, in a complete ring, are the floral tribute wreaths that were brought here to the site. of course as chief among them is a wreath from the president of the united states, a wreath with red white blue carnations. is very difficult to establish the size of the crowd which has gathered here, but it is very, very large. as i look across now to the, directly to the west, i see that they are also lined up, people behind the fence, behind the military court which has been established by some 240 members of the iowa national guard, looking directly across the valley from this hilltop to the view upon which the town itself sets. there is an area -- probably people standing there in some 20, 20 to 25 deep. and all the way back to the library i
