let's get more of this from our reporter, jared read. jared, what, what do we know so far? having seen the polls close? well told me things are starting to get exciting because the a, b, c, which is australia, national broadcaster, their election analyst entity grant is predicting that there will be a hung parliament in australia. so this basically means when, where none of the major parties form can form a majority. this is something that is very common in many advanced democracies, but very much less common in australia. the last time this happened was back in 2010 under former prime minister julia de la, the labor prime minister. you had to form an alliance with the greens to get legislation through. basically the magic number in the laurel house in australia is 76768 out of 151. and according to the i, b, c, it's looking like none of the major parties will be able to reach that. so what happens now? i guess we have to wait for more results to come in. it points to, i guess, people turning away from the major parties in favor of minor parties in favor of many climates, f

jared bass? guest: it goes back to what i was saying earlier. it's not just financial aid, but the financial aid that was provided. because of the declining investment in the pell grant, people turn to loans. we saw people use that to provide access to higher education. it's also important to remember here that we are talking about the federal government. it's not that you are giving it to a private institution, the federal government is your lender, who can change those loans. there was a discussion in the earlier segments around bankruptcy, that you can't discharge your student loans in bankruptcy unless there is undue hardship, and that's a very, very hard thing to prove in bankruptcy court. but you can discharge other debt in bankruptcy court, you can file for whatever chapter you are supposed to file and have those other debts either discharged, but you cannot do that for student loans. and if you default on your student loans, the government can garnish your wages. we are talking about peop
