john eastman, this is the attorney who wrote this memo detailing the plan for vp pence on january 6th. he revealed in a court filing overnight that he had some direct correspondence with former president trump about overturning the 2020 election including handwritten notes from trump. eastman and his team are arguing that the committee should not have access under attorney/client privilege, but this could be obviously some crucial evidence here. the importance from your perspective? >> well, john eastman has been fighting, complying with the committee's request to get to the bottom of what led up to the attack on the capital on january 6th. every step of the way. so he has consistently argued that his information should not be able to be turned over, and he has not cooperated in the committee's investigation. he obviously maintains and has in his possession knowledge and documents that are highly relevant to the committee's investigation. it's particularly his communications directly with the white house and obviously his involvement in crafting a strategy to overturn the election. >>

eastman's coup plot. during this time, kept made an effort to publicly defend himself, mostly honestly, but just throwing the republican secretary of state, raffensperger, out of the bus. get this, here's a statement. he releases it back then, reading in part, quote, georgia law prohibits the governor from interfering in elections. the secretary of state, who is an elected constitutional officer, has oversight over the elections that cannot be overridden by executive order. of course, we already know that trump was targeting raffensperger as well. on december 5th, the same day that he called camp, mark meadows tried to get through to the georgia secretary of state, again. meadows texting him, quote, mister secretary, can you call the white house switchboard for a call, your voice mail is full. the white house put raffensperger, who was clearly backing their calls in the back burner, because he didn't have a new strategy. the same with trump made those calls, his lawyer, rudy giuliani, went in person, down

and so what i will be looking for is those conversations between donald trump, john eastman, rudy giuliani. some of them at the higher levels of planning. was this just a plan? was this just a bunch of little efforts. that all came together? or was this part of one coordinated plan? those are some of the things i would be looking to hear. and i don't expect them to focus on that aspect, based on the witnesses that they have called, and the sum of the reporting that we are hearing these days. >> what's your take on this reporting that former white house chief of staff met with republican congressman scott perry, and supposedly went back to his office and burned papers! is that not potential lee a criminal act? one might think that this is white house papers and he is destroying them? >> that is true. if this is true, you wanna start with that premise. if this is truth, you want someone to talk about it under oath and really push. it but i think it is potentially really criminal. and you have to think about how unusual that is. it's really strange that someone would set a fire in the white h
