oakland police chief and kirkpatrick has won her lawsuit against the city of oakland, where she claims she was wrongfully terminated by the city. yesterday's jury decision does not mean kirkpatrick will get her job back, but she was awarded $337,000 in damages in her lawsuit. kirkpatrick claims she was fired because she exposed corruption and abuse of power by the oakland police commission. she was fired in february of 2020 without cause and filed her lawsuit. a few months later. a spokesman for the former police chief says the verdict is an important moment for oakland. the jury agreed with her whistleblowing complaints, they found that she would not have been fired except by the retaliatory acts of the police commission, the mayor and the city of oakland. this is an important victory for trying to reform the oakland police commission and end its corrupt practices. and spokesman sam singer says kirkpatrick is happy about the jury verdict. the oakland city attorney in a statement sent to ktvu said, we're thankful too, for the jury and their service. after weighing the facts of the case
