we are live in the fire zone in orange county for a first-hand look at the destruction. we will hear from some of the people who lost their homes in a few minutes. we start with new details about the kidnapping of a san jose baby boy. he was taken while his grandmother unloaded groceries on april 25. the prosecutors say text messages between the two people arrested suggest they tried to kidnap him three times before and there are the suspect there. these details are coming out today. prosecutors file the three additional charges of attempted kidnapping against these two men. according to documents from the court, they attempted to kidnap the boy on march 14 and he allegedly posed as a child protective services worker and showed up at the family's home and tried to take the baby. the family got suspicion so they called cps. the agency told the family this was bogus and don't hand over the baby and the second attempt happened a few weeks later on march 28 and this time inside a walmart. they attempted to switch shopping carts in order to take baby brandon and the final att

developing news out of orange county. police are investigating the motive behind a deadly church shooting. police arrested an asian man in his 60's for that attack. well, the shooting happened sunday afternoon during what investigators describe as a bank with one person was killed while 5 others were hurt. chip yost has the latest for us. there. >> we know multiple patients were transported to area hospitals. 2 of the victims are brought here to providence mission hospital in mission viejo. they were brought here in critical condition. the gunfire erupted inside geneva presbyterian church in laguna woods just before one 30 this afternoon about 30 to 40 people were inside during a lunch banquet when the suspect opened fire. sheriff officials say there's a total of 6 victims, one of the victims died from their injuries on scene. 5 others were injured. 4 of them in critical condition and had to be rushed to hospitals. the other person sustained minor injuries. the orange county fire authority had paramedics on scene treating

this is happening in orange county. a wildfire burning there in the community of laguna niguel in his forcing people to evacuate their homes. we're told some homes have already burned. we've seen live pictures throughout the evening tonight and see the smoke filling the sky there of this fire described as fast-moving. all orange county fire reporting. the flames have burned 183 acres were not crews arrived. it was just 3 acres and this fire really took off. and again, there's very dry. there is some wind. >> this is now being called the coastal fire. and as pam said, we know more than 180 acres have burned, although that number is expected to go up. fire broke out about 2.45 this afternoon. and ali, so woods canyon, it is a developing story. we'll have updates as soon as that information becomes available.

i want to show you live pictures out of orange county. right now. the fire is burning in an area of hilltop homes between lagoon and miguel and laguna beach. right here in these live pictures, you can see a home. they're totally engulfed in flames. evacuation orders are in place as crews attacked the flames from the ground and the air. the fire is burning in dense brush that firefighters say hasn't burned in at least four years. but as you can see again from these live pictures, the fire has now made its way into neighborhoods at the top of the canyon. after moving through that brush, there was a ton of smoke there earlier. we have been watching it, but again a sad story burning right now building in southern california with those homes on fire. for more on the weather firefighters are facing. let's go to our chief meteorologist, bill martin. for a look at the conditions down down in southern california bill. it's a not a good scene right now. well it isn't. no but this this fire is being driven by terrain. basically listen, if this was a red flag w
