let's begin with first alert chief meteorologist paul heggen. paul? >> so far we have been fortunate not to see any larger fires developing. there is a larger fire in kern county. this is not something confined to the bay area. the worst fire where the conditions are going to continue developing over the central valley. we're looking at our fire weather tracker. all the observation points reporting the temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction. and whenever one of the circles turns red, it means that location is in red flag conditions. so a cluster of those around sacramento already. a couple santa rosa and northern sonoma county. all these yellow dots indicate places that are close to red flag conditions already. one county under a red flag warning, solano county. that continues until 8:00 friday. for we're going have to keep an eye on it in the bay area as well because we have a wind advisory in effect for interior portions of the north bay and n the higher elevation, and pretty much all of the east bay east of the oakland hills. sustained w

chief meteorologist paul heggen is here. paul, are we going to be getting some relief soon? >> we're getting relief as we speak across much of the bay area, but not all. mid to low 90s inland in the east bay. livermore got up to 100 degrees early this afternoon. so did fairfield. now those temperatures have dropped off by 4 to 7 degrees. the dramatic cooldown has happened for the north bay and inland in the santa clara valley, where temperatures were in the 90s. now they're down to the 70s and 80s. and around the bay, the temperature downtown san francisco is only 60 degrees thanks to that fog that has rolled in. and as that fog spreads inland, tomorrow it's going to be the fog in the morning with the stronger onshore wind and more cloud cover higher in the atmosphere that's going to drop temperatures back to where they should be this time of year. we'll take a look at how long this is going last in the full forecast. >> we'll see you then. >>> still ahead, with calls to conserve, more homeowners are looking to change their habits. how one east bay man made the switch to rec

let's get right to first alert meteorologist paul heggen with more on this red flag warning that we're dealing with. >> the first red flag warning of not even quite technically into fire season yet. but that's something that doesn't really exist anymore because it's a year-round season. this is red flag warning for solano county. the watch has been upgraded to a red flag warning. the greatest fire threat, the lowest humidity, the strongest wind gusts are going to shape up tomorrow, tomorrow night and friday. that's going to be through the central valley. but the bay area is not going to miss out on this entirely. the northeasterly winds gusting up to potentially 25 to 30 miles an hour. humidity levels are going to be very low with those northerly winds bringing in very dry air. so the fire threat going up even though the temperatures are going to go down little bit. it was hot inland today. 94 in concord. 95 at is an rose. the temperatures 15 to 20 degrees above average. it was a dozen degrees above normal in san jose. but it's not just the temperature that determines the fire threat.

let's check in with first alert meteorologist paul heggen here. we're getting ready for that warm-up. >> yeah, just in time for the weekend too. it's nice when things work out like that. today's weather was fine, just a little bit on the cool side, and certainly on the breezy side. but it's may in the bay area. this is kind of what we expect. we're going go up on the temperaturol and the drop on the other side isn't going to be too bad. so just minor ups and downs. high pressure building in the upper-levels of the atmosphere. just a hill of air over overhead. first of all, it's going to keep the forecast dry, pushing the storm track to our north. it also means warmer temperatures in store, even along the coast and around the bay. more of a modest warm-up there, but that's what we're looking at as we head through the end of the workweek, and with that area of high pressure pretty much directly overhead, the warmest temperatures are going to occur for the first half of the weekend. the parade of storm systems to the north is going to continue. just
