president zelenskyy's leadership has inspired free nations and free people around the world. his unwavering commitment to ukraine and sovereignty has helped rally the rest of the freedom loving world to come to the aid of ukraine in a number of different ways. president zelenskyy, of course, is a product of ukrainian culture that values strength, resilience, a love of homeland and we know that the people of ukraine are the same and certainly no different. the ukrainian people are determined not just to defend their country, but to win in this fight against russia and that's what they have been doing. what they've asked of us is to give them the tools that they need to fight their own fight. since the earliest days of this invasion, the u.s. has provided billions of dollars in military and humanitarian assistance and we continue looking to president zelenskyy for-- so we can understand what more is needed. this is not only a security crisis, this is a humanitarian crisis as well since ukraine is known generally as the bread basket of europe. he and his advisors warned us about

and president zelenskyy said, no, i'm staying and my family is staying. so i watched a legend being created in front of our own eyes. and his communicated very effectively with the world and he's really written out what this is and this is good and evil people want the freedom in our country that we want to have to be bullied and don't want to be taken over and don't want to be the pop itself and authoritarian neighbor and they're willing to fight for their freedom. and president zelenskyy is willing to go out to the front lines with his people. and this is not a guy who is leading from behind. this is a guy who's at the front i. made the mistake early on i, said this is kind of like david davey crockett at the alamo, or hector at troy. and i realized, it didn't really work out very well for hector and for david. crockett [laughter] saw i had to come up with a better analogy. and so, i would have been going with charles de gaulle now. you know, the embodiment of france, of free fronts, during the war. but you know, zelenskyy is there and he's fighting and

>> again president zelenskyy and the government have been very clear. first we ask for the massive sanctions and isolating of russia with made sanctions the governmental entities of the efforts they have also private companies. there is no such thing as private banks or driven companies in russia. all of them are in this war. all of them are working together in the russian state in order to support and facilitate the war in ukraine. we not only want to fully support but we ask the united states and allies to toughen these sanctions and a wide in the sanctions. for example russia's three to 30 banks the majority are still not sanctioned. we ask our partners here to put all of them on the list and we ask they seize as many as possible. this should not be capable of doing anything unless russian federation. equally, we ask russia to be designated as terrorism brick after what they're doing and ukraine come after the defendant sierra, poisoning people on the streets of london, think we have quite a number of threats on the table that would justify. we also

and i think you said that this is president zelenskyy's call. at what stage do you think there will likely be serious diplomatic negotiations from the russian side that might >> unfortunately, putin is driven by ideology. he has to be embarrassed, by the poor performance of the russian military. the fact that many of their weapons have not operated as they thought they would. so it has been largely ineffective. one of the most dangerous people in the world is someone who is in a corner. sen. cornyn: and does not have any way out. president zelenskyy is trying to think of way of how to achieve their goals which is to restore ukrainian sovereignty, while giving president putin some way out of this, where he can save face. this is the reason why putin is so dangerous. although it is not part of their doctrine to use it tactical nuclear weapons in a situation like this, he does have them. they keep mentioning them. that would be a tragedy for everyone involved. it is a very delicate matter. but it is going to have to be dealt with. i agree, with wha
