betsy woodruff swan -- and she joins me now. betsy, what do we know? >> we know this is a really near situation, typically the committee has been announcing that there will be a hearing, not necessarily with -- a week ahead of those hearing dates. typically they've been much more engaged, doing a lot more to lay the groundwork publicly to what's happening in these hearings in, this case however, it's very, very unusual. there's barely 24 hours for people to get ready to cover this hearing, for now exeter and whether or not they're gonna air live, it's extremely weird situation, that said this is not the first kind of strange plot twist that's happened with select committee hearings. the very first hearing, vice chair liz cheney, laid out a fairly clear roadmap for about six hearings, each with different subject matters, that the committee would get into, that roadmap of course has been jettisoned. they have to totally reschedule one hearing in the justice part for reasons they did not provide a huge amount of detail regarding. but -- all the way into j

betsy, good to see both of you. betsy, let me start with you. last month, jay powell said that 75 basis points, increasing the interest rates by 0.75% was not something that was actively considered. what's your expectation now and would that be enough to slow inflation? >> well, i think what jay powell has said is that he's going to read the data, and that they are going to react to the news they get and they did get some news that inflation was much higher than i think people expected in this latest read. a lot of people have talked about inflation being stubborn or not going away. i think the real concern is that it's actually spilling into services, which has really so far not had the higher inflation that we've mostly seen in things like energy and durable goods, and when you start to see this spillover, the rising prices, we saw veterinary services up nearly 8%. of course, we saw airline tickets rising in the double digits in a single month. so, we see these start to -- these price increases start, and i think the fed's going to have to tak
