peter hotez, professor at the baylor college of medicine. dr. hotez, i am glad you are here. for many people, they have never heard of this particular affliction. what -- what is it? how does it start? how do you get this? >> well, you know, he is showing signs of facial paralysis on one side of the face and the most common cause of that is what is called bells palsy which can occur after lyme disease or a viral infection. a somewhat less common cause is ramsey hunt syndrome, which is ral actually react vagds of the chickenpox virus so a form of herpes that more typically oerngs in older individuals, and will often manifest as -- as a band of vesicles of pain around their mid-section. but in some cases, that can affect the facial nerve. and be associated with a lot of fa facial pain, ear pain, and then that is followed by a rash, looks like chickenpox vesicles on the ear, and then facial paralysis. i didn't -- in the video, of course, the resolution is not great. i don't see the chickenpox vesicles that you might see with it but you don't always have to have that. so presumab
