there's a check in with our chief meteorologist lawrence karnow and and he was talking about the hope that things start to settle overnight. what were you seeing out there? yeah, in general, the winds tend to settle down and we're not seeing that offshore wind return tonight. so more of a general type weather pattern here where we get the sea breeze going. that's some good news. here is the latest forecast on some of the winds overnight. tonight we're taking for a closer look. now you can see oak knoll and you see out bill just to the east. now is that fire right now that active fire continuing in that area overnight tonight, those winds begin to subside. in fact, you'll notice they begin to come up out of the south. so the winds going to push that fire along in a different direction with these winds getting very light. the models right now point of paying those winds to 4, maybe 5 miles per hour as we head into early tomorrow morning as we head through the day, the sun comes up. the atmosphere starts to mix a bit likely going to see the winds pick up a bit. and then that sea breeze w

chief meteorologist lawrence karnow joins a snag here. a little bit of the wind blowing in that video. that's not a good sign. not at all. in the wind really. >> picking up that afternoon. sea breeze right now. so we've got winds blow over 20 miles an hour on an active fire. and you saw the brush out there. very, very brown. look at some winds in and around the bay area right now, 20 to 25 miles an hour. >> in the san francisco. so get blustery out there right now. yeah, where that fire is located. ample amounts of a brush in that area. so you've got that whole spot there. a mclaren that you're looking plenty brown brush. you've got to some mountainous regions to which the fires like to climb up a bit. and in general that's pushing in a more of an easterly fashion. so that is going to send the fire and the flames and the smoke generally in this direction over this hill. and this is what we're watching here is the golf course in around that area as well. so something to watch out for is that fire will likely continue to blow in that direct

so in light of that, let's check in with our chief meteorologist lawrence karnow to give us an idea of what's happening. weather wise. talking about fires. one of these spot fires coming in the afternoon, right? really. >> at the optimal wins this when we get those real breezy conditions developing around the bay area, this one no exception. this in the bottle. now you see the fire burning near the landfill area there in the bottle and they'll continue to see some gusty winds of seeing some gusts over 20 miles an hour. in fact, in this some of those gusts as high as 26 miles per hour. you see that located really in awe northern parts of nevada. you see the continued winds there in that area. so, yeah, folks in and around this area, they're starting to shut down the road, of course, or at least to make it to slow going there on one. 0, one, as i'm sure they're trying to get a lot of fire vehicles in that location as soon as possible. these winds will likely continue. we'll see these gusty winds around the bay area continuing in the afternoon. probably not more than 30 mile an hour gusts
