cnn's nick watt is with me from gardner, montana. so parts of yellowstone may be shut down for quite a while. what's happening? >> reporter: well, victor, the northern entrance, which is where we are is going to be closed for months, probably for the rest of the summer at least. why? there is only one road into the park through this northern entrance and the yellowstone river has washed it away in multiple places. it's going to take months to fix that. so gardner, this town, the gateway to the park has basically become a ghost town. i just bumped into one of the county commissioners. he said we need help. i also spoke with a woman who runs an inn here. take a listen to what she had to say. >> do you have anybody staying at the moment? >> i think we have one person, they might have czech ohecked o this morning. and we were booked i live right across the street. >> we were booked solid for a year. we were booked for a year. >> and so how did this happen? it's basically climate change impacting people's livelihoods. there was a huge dum

and that is where cnn's nick w watt is live for us. tell us what you're seeing. >> reporter: well, brianna, as you say, the entire park is closed right now. and officials say that this northern entrance to the park could be closed for a lot longer. why? well, there is one road in, and one road out. and that road runs parallel to this river, and this river is causing a lot of damage. nearly three months worth of water flowed down here in the space of just three days. now, one rv park manager here told me that he thinks that, in fact, this could be it for the rest of the season for this, the northern part of the park. now, why is this happening? well, there was a heavy late dump of snow. then there were early high temperatures, which melted that snow, throw in a lot of rain, and this is what has happened. now, this is basically climate change at work, and the problem is a lot of this infrastructure, you know the road next to the river, was built for the climate of the last century, not built for the strange climate that we are seeing now

here is cnn's nick watt. >> reporter: the water plant was built for when the river runs 15 feet or below. this week it hit 16 and a half. is it a record high that forced to close briefly. >> is it surreal to see all the bridges go down around the state. >> reporter: this is one that did not survive, before and after. how abnormal was this rush of water. this time yellow stone was running 800 cubic feet a second, a record low and now it reached 87,000 peaks wednesday afternoon. >> we started moving the cattle at noon and move pentagon towards the front where it is a higher ground. the last ones had to swim out. it was that deep. all you could see were their heads. >> reporter: further up, the river ran through here broadway avenue and now covered in rocks left behind. the southern part of yellowstone national park may open on month. the north entrance will be months. they show what little is left of the only road in. this flooding was fueled by heavy rain and high temperatures melting snow. tonight similar conditions return. overnight last night was perfect. zooming you into yellowstone.

. >> nick watt there in gardner, montana, thank you. roads and bridges, in some cases houses, washed out by this historic flooding in montana. you see this image by now, it's cru incredible how powerful the water is. so many people have been forced to evacuate, some have been tapped without great safety water. the manager in park county, montana, that video was taken in park county, greg, give us an update on what you are seeing right now. have you seen anything like this be every? >> no, this is definitely record flooding surpassing what we experienced in '97/'98. we started out early monday morning and the flood waters isolated many of our communities, coat city, silver gate, gardner, silver basin, the southern end, they were all cut off from roadways for a number of days or a number of hours to a number of days. >> wow. >> we have restored access to those communities as least for emergency vehicles. water is receding. we had two shelter operations going, one in boseman and one in livingston and we're shifting that to all livingston n

cnn's nick watt is live for us this morning, in billings, doing more fantastic reporting on what's happening there. what are you seeing this morning? >> well, john, here in billings the peak has passed for new. i'll get to why i say for now in a second. what basically happened here in billings is in the space of five days, the river went from flowing at eight feet to 16 1/2 feet. and the water plant that you just mentioned is a very interesting fact here. that plant was built to operate only when the river runs at 15 feet or less. when it was built, no one figured the river would ever run at more than 15 feet. it did. 16 1/2 feet. the other interesting thing here is really just the unpredictability. so exactly a year ago the river was running at all time lows here, 8,000 cubic feet a second. yesterday, 87,000 cubic feet a second. that is a huge difference and just speaks to the unpredictability of these kind of bursts of weather that they are dealing with here right now. so, we are now nearly 200 miles downstream from where we were yesterday at gardener at the gates of yellowstone national p

cnn's nick watt has the latest from montana. >> reporter: erica, we are at the northern entrance to the park and this northern entrance is going to remain closed for some time, probably for the whole of the summer. perhaps even beyond. the problem? the yellow stone river. about three months' worth of water barrelled down this channel in the course of just three days. it was a late, late dump of snow that early high temperatures in the summer that melted that snow, add in some rain and this river rose to historic records, all highs. now, here, where i'm standing, this used to be a home for national park workers. we'll show you the video right now of the home being washed away. the other thing that was washed away? the only access road into the north of the park which used to run alongside the yellowstone river and is now been washed out in a number of places. that could take months to repair. now, thousands of people were in the park. most of them have now been taken out. there are still some bat country hiking groups. they're in contact with officials. they don't appear to be in great d

neil o'brien says the prime minister has my full support and one from my colleague nick watt from newsnight, who has tweeted some very long faces on the supporters boris johnson, one a light set of mps they are a bunch of lying snakes, i don't trust anything they say, so the language is cranking up as we move towards that result just towards that resultjust over half an hour and around confidence votes we are looking for benchmarks and presidents to help us calibrate what is going on. to find one mps could cast their minds back for years. the last prime minister to face a no—confidence vote was theresa may back in 2018. that vote happened as theresa may's government was trying to implement britain's withdrawal from the eu. they were trying to find a form of the brexit deal that they could actually get through the house of commons. some of her mps who supported brexit stridently and wanted a clean break with europe didn't think her plan would achieve that, so they triggered the vote. mrs may won the ballot, getting the backing of 60% of mps. the result was 200—117. this is what she said
