is china likely to pass silicon valley as a leader of technology? reid: i think it's one of the greatest concerns that silicon valley-knowledgeable people have, because china is amazing. it has huge amounts of tech talent. everyone's acting like an immigrant, you know, with hunger. large companies have this policy, 996 -- 9:00 till 9:00 p.m. six days a week, you are discoverable at your desk. and that's kind of like, you know, tens of thousands of technical people in technology companies. and they are doing a lot of innovation. there's things we learn from china. and so, i think that china is going to have one kind of very strong creation of the technological future. it is one of the reasons why in blitz scaling, we call it the land of blitz scaling. i think silicon valley has some edges too, but i think it's very much of a game on circumstance. david: now some people would say the technology world of the united states is dominated by a limited number of companies, google, facebook, apple, netflix, microsoft, i'm sure you are familiar with all of th

valley. great to have you with us. you have pointed out that tiger global has been writing massive checks for companies with very little revenue. how big a problem has this been in silicon valley? >> it has come with a lot of week governance. they have written a huge tent to someone already writing the unicorn. that person of course is a bit imperialist and on top of that you say we don't want to go in your board, we are not going to exercise governance and we defer to you because you are the founder. that's not a good way of overseeing companies. that is why you had this government vacuum for unicorns with we work, uber, they went off the moral commercial rails because no one is minding the store. >> what's your read on venture capital and private companies? >> it's bound to affect late stage investors who were investing late. a year away it was the park -- public market that was this year. late stage private will go down with it. because of capital matters when you are writing a check. a $1

can you represent silicon valley in particular. your book is about creating tech jobs outside of silicon valley. can you talk a little more about that? rep. khanna: we have seen in this country massive loss of production. while some places like my district, silicon valley, thrive. $10 trillion in market cap. there were two mistakes. one, an insufficient respect for place. a lot of people love growing up in the community they are in and they want to stay there. they want to stay in the community where they have family, friends, and they want the jobs to be there. second, we decided that all this production did not matter. i don't understand the economic strategy. now we realize the consequences and the pandemic. we don't make masks here, we don't make a medical equipment here, we don't have enough semi conductors made here, where we have literally cars sitting idle fully manufactured but we don't have a semi conductor chip. so my thesis in the book is to say we cannot just have the concentration of an economy in a few areas like new

we will trend into the mid-90s for inland valleys from santa clara valley to the tri-valley. tomorrow it will be muggy in the morning. we will reach into the low to mid-90s for tomorrow afternoon. and this is what i have been concerned about. i am watching this monsoonal moisture surging into the bakersfield area. a high concern, these lightning strikes with very little rain. what happens as this moisture starts to move into the central valley, we will see more clouds in higher humidity which will raise our heat index. the actual number of the temperature will not be higher, but it will feel just as hot as yesterday. with these lightning strikes we have the potential of thunderstorms. we have been talking about how dry the foliage is in just one lightning strike could start off a fire. we have the highest chance of seeing them in the south county. once again, we are waking up to high humidity. this is the remnants of the tropical system that gets pursed into the areas around the bay area. this water vapor imagery, high humidity and we are watching out for that as a comes in.
