's, stephanie simons is in mariposa county. he joins us now for the latest. stefan you spend the day on the ground with fire fighters. how are they getting on well, has to tell you the fires 30 per cent contained, but as you mentioned, almost $19000.00 acres strong now destroyed by the fires and still burning. we spend a day with cal fire, with fire fighters from all over the country and the forest service here. and that was quite an experience. so those crews are busy mopping up where the fire has already raged through and left only destruction in its way of putting out hot spots and checking on so called lines. those are spaces they clear of the brush in of undergrowth so the fire can jump. so they have established those they go back, they check they have to water down tree trumps, which are still smoldering. so that is not all hunky dory. here it's a dangerous situation, and there is still thousands and thousands of impact us, $3000.00 fire fighters taking care of the fire now and making progress, but slowly, very slowly. ot

more so into coulterville mariposa probably oakdale. so that's something to watch out for overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning as these fires kind of change with the conditions throughout the night, you can see that westerly component, the winds of a sudden you see that smoke blowing right up in the 70 valley that win 14 to 18 miles per hour or so. a pretty decent willian do rough terrain. of course, this is in the foothills and fires tend to like to run upwards into the mountains. and that's exactly where it's headed right now. and that smoke overnight tonight, at least it's going to back off at least in parts of the mountains. otherwise is a concern. we've got more monsoonal moisture working its way through the sierra nevada. watch out for the possibility. not only more lightning strikes but lightning strike a spotted fires. and that's what we're watching for tonight. as we've had numerous strikes now across the sierra and we'll see more of that to come our way. we've got conditions. they're working out great for the bay area.
